A very special message from @neildastolfo and I, taken today at @52ndstproject, offering some real gritty truths about mask wearing and telling you to come to playmaking next week. [Description: I, a white woman with short brown curly hair and red glasses wearing a gray tshirt, and Neil D'Astolfo, a white man with short light brown hair and wearing a yellow sweater. When we put masks on, mine is black, and Neil's is very colorful with the Coco Chanel logo repeated on it. There is the audience seating of a theater behind us.]

The mission of Story Pirates is to celebrate the words and ideas of kids and our nonprofit arm, Story Pirates Changemakers, makes sure our program is accessible to as many kids as possible. In the spirit of Giving Tuesday, we want to shout out some other organizations who share similar missions! Learn more at the links in our story! The 52nd Street Project is dedicated to the creation and production of new plays for, and often by, kids between the ages of nine and eighteen, pairing kids with playwrights, composers, and other theatre professionals! Playmakers Laboratory Theatre is an ensemble of teaching artists who help children speak their minds and celebrate the power of their imaginations through creative writing workshops and in-school performances of students’ original stories, building literacy skills, self-esteem, and confidence in students’ ideas and abilities! Young Storytellers is a creative writing nonprofit that works to spark self-discovery through storytelling. Every student served by Young Storytellers completes a script and gets to see their story brought to life on stage. And these incredible nonprofits working to make life better for individuals facing a multitude of challenges – Center for Independent Futures is dedicated to helping individuals with disabilities live full and more independent lives. Travis Manion Foundation supports veterans and their families, working to unite and strengthen communities by training, developing, and highlighting the role models that lead them! They serve roughly 300 children and their caregivers at any given time, following a support group model that emphasizes acknowledging any and all feelings related to grief, connection with others experiencing grief, and channeling feelings through art, play, and discussion.

@kat52project was like, how do I ensure Lynne opens her mail and starts crying Friday morning? I know... THANK YOU KAT. I was so touched to get this card and I can't wait to frame this perfect pic. In related news, MiniMe starts high school on Monday. HIGH SCHOOL. 😭 [Description: a picture of a card that's says You help bring so much joy to this place. Thank you, Kat. The envelope top is behind it showing the return address for @52ndstproject. Inside the card is a photograph of Kat, a Filipino person with pink and purple hair, wearing a black t-shirt with I and a heart icon visible, taking a selfie with me, an Irish and Eastern European person with curly brown hair in a blue jumpsuit, and Sarah, a Mexican person with black hair, glasses, and a pink top sitting behind her. Sarah and I are smiling hard, our mouths and eyes are wide open. In the background is the joyful, airy, colorful clubhouse of the 52nd Street Project.]
