Gooism is a Bay Area creative cooperative made up of Jack Morgan (@a.eye.studios), Kevin Mitchell (@sync.priest), Fetz (@avfetz), and Andrew Butcher (@5projectors). Together, they focus on uplifting visual artists through transparency, access, equitable wages, and community, while buiding the infrastructure VJs and visual artists need, from directories and planning tools to fair booking systems and accessible creative technologies.

Over the past four months, with mentorship and guidance of Gray Area’s Cultural Incubator, Gooism has continued to develop their model through experimentation, critique, and exchange with fellow cohort members.

At this week’s Cultural Incubator Showcase, meet the people behind Gooism, check out some of their equipment in action, and learn more about their catalog and the process behind the work.

Stop by during Showcase Open Hours tonight to meet the collective, play, and explore.

Gray Area Cultural Incubator Showcase:
📅 Open Hours: August 7, from 6 – 9 PM

📍 Gray Area, 2665 Mission St, SF

FuturePIXEL @futurepixelhouse opens SXSW @sxsw with an immersive night session curated by Daniel Clayton (480p) inside the Mexic-Arte Museum — where house, IDM and experimental electronica meet real time generative visuals and spatial media.

Light, music, code and bodies moving between signals.

In the space will be featured films from @billie0cean (Billie Ocean), @semi_quasi_retired (Leo Won), a03959x.91_15, @sbhstudio (Bohan Sun) and @jodystillwater.

LA-based producer @alexparker headlines with a hybrid live set exploring the edges of IDM and experimental electronica — precise, immersive, and built for the moment.

@victorvegadj Victor Vega, a longtime pillar of San Francisco’s underground house scene brings his a hardware driven approach designed to keep us moving.

@helo.gry Héloïse, whose live analog compositions blend techno with machine-learning instrumentation.

Each musical act is supported by immersive audio reactive visuals provided by Daniel Clayton (480p), Yangqi Yang (YYSPACE) @youngeeeeeeeeee, and Andrew Butcher @5projectors.

Thursday, April 23rd is stacked, plan accordingly:👇️

• 5–7:30PM @sfpubliclibrary: "The Continuing Story of Life on Earth: 25 Years of Hamburger Eyes," features over 80 black-and-white photographs, plus zines, books, and archival material from one of SF’s most iconic underground photo publications.

• 6PM @sfmoma (Phyllis Wattis Theater): "Architecture x Architecture," a conversation alongside MAP’s new book unpacking how machine learning is reshaping architectural design—bringing together voices across architecture, art, and computational practice to rethink how buildings get imagined and made.

• 6PM @apple (Union Square): Panel discussion with @recologyair artists @tjastone, @juliaannegoodman, and @bryan.k.thomas.35 discuss turning discarded materials into new work—getting into the realities of process, sustainability, and reuse beyond the buzzwords.

• 6–8PM @cushion_works_and_friends: "The Shithole Opry Collector’s Guide," @derek_mccormack’s new publication and exhibition riffs on a fictional 1950s collection—blending punk, country, and satire into a sharp take on fashion’s obsession with the past.

• 6–8PM @c.lective (Sausalito): orincarpentersart's "Exhale," an intimate, RSVP-only opening with an artist talk. Carpenter’s mixed media work leans into tension, release, and personal reflection.

• 6–9PM @somarts: "Lineages of Organizing: APICC at 30," a 30-year retrospective of the @apicouncil, tracing decades of cultural organizing, community building, and artistic production across SF’s API communities.

• 6–9PM @art_for_civil_discourse (275 8th St. 3rd Floor): "Art at Ideas Salon: Collective Authorship," a live, collaborative media experiment where four artists build one evolving work in real time—each transforming it before passing it on, with audience input shaping key decisions along the way.

• 6:30PM @etalgallerysf: "Performance Night," poetry, puppet theater, and experimental performance collide in an improvisational evening with audience participation—featuring an “idea lottery” that keeps things unpredictable.

Pick your energy 🔥
