I am so fortunate that I get to document the student-athletes at North Charleston High School. I’ve a known a handful who have gone on to play at the collegiate level. Three years ago, I took photos when one of our football players signed his Letter of Intent. I turned to Samuel Riddy as we were waiting to begin and told him, “I’ll be back in a few years to take your picture at your signing.” Today I got to do just that.

He was recruited by and received offers from many schools (including Navy) and has chosen to attend East Carolina University where he’ll play football on scholarship (@ECPiratesFB).

He knows how fortunate he is and he thanks God for it. He’s thankful for the journey that’s taken him this far and he’s thankful for his parents who have guided him well in life. It’s been fun to watch him mature as a ball player and leader, but mostly it’s been fun to see him grow as a young man.

Over 80% of collegiate student-athletes were multi-sport athletes in high school and Samuel played three sports. The photos are some of my favorites of him playing over the last four years. The last photo is one I took of Samuel and Hall of Fame linebacker Joe DeLamielleure. Who knows? Maybe one day Joe will introduce Samuel when he makes it to the Hall of Fame.
