Motherhood has been a pillar of mine since I was a young teen. Fatherhood, not so much. I knew Dada would be a good dad because I saw how he was with many kids before ours, but there was a big disconnect of how each role served one another and creating harmony was not the underlying principal for me. It’s been a healing journey for sure. Our children have had a powerful hand in me healing this part of me, my masculinity, my masculine associations and overall reverence for fathers (I’ll share my most recent healing experience with my biological father later). There’s no motherhood without fatherhood. There’s no feminine without masculine. I hold space for harmony and dynamic family cultures because that’s living wealthy.

My favorite part was when it was time to push! Very potent feeling. I was laying on our bed for back to back contractions and couldn’t even control my body, it felt like my body was pushing all on its own. Something was going on with the birthing pool, apparently the hot water hook up worked but not the cold, so @Communitypartera and @iamhaizehawke hand poured cold water by filling up a jug and large pot. When the pushing intensified they said the pool was ready and also “it’s now or never” if I wanted to birth in the pool. I did and baby was coming so I had to move it 😅. The short trip to the pool and the entering into the pool felt like a whole ass mission! Determination is a superpower because I made it, relaxed as best I could and allowed the contractions, breath and babygurl to lead the way. A few contractions and a few pushes later 🍾!

Home Birth Highlights:
✨Dada caught babygurl; his touch was the first for babygurl
✨ We witnessed the power of the umbilical cord and felt it’s pulsation (surreal!)
✨I birthed the placenta and we appreciated the role it played in nourishing baby
✨ We left the cord attached for a few hours
✨ Dada cut the umbilical cord with @Communitypartera’s obsidian knife
✨ Baby and I got and have stayed in the bed since the birth (mostly)
✨ Our birthing playlist was superb and super inspiring

I share our birth story because this is sovereignty and wealth building to me.

Deep reverence for you. Dada, an extraordinary birthing partner! The last few hours of birth were intense. Baby girl was not optimally positioned so when contractions came she was hitting my pelvis versus coming through it. The back labor and pelvic pressure was 🤯!!!!!! @iamhaizehawke massaged me for hours. Dada hydrated me, massaged me, held me, kissed me, fed me… everyone spoke life into me and affirmed the divine process. Then it was time to further guide baby girl @iamhaizehawke and @Communitypartera wrapped my belly with a rebozo to help baby straighten out during contractions. I sat on the toilet for some contractions and a deep squat for some more. All I can say is ooooooweeeeee. Dada was my pillar. Who knew this would be our life when we met at circuit city in 2007 (😂).

Sharing some of the intimate active labor moments during our birthing journey where Dada supported me. I was SO glad to be in the comfort of our home.

✨On this miraculous day 36 years ago my mama birthed me. Today I honor the day I was brought into connection with Mother Earth, give thanks for our babygurl making earthside in a beautiful and peaceful way 9/3/22 👶🏽, and giving thanks for our angel baby that cleared the birth path 10/7/21 👼🏽. I was really hoping my gurl would come on my earthday but she’s a Virgo nevertheless, so I’m satisfied 😄♍️

Motherhood is my greatest gift. I feel the deepest connection to creating, carrying and supporting life within my body. When I think of purpose, this is it. When I think of divine feminine, this is it. When I think of generational wealth, this is it. The birthing portal is profound and the process is a powerful rite of passage.

Happy birthday mama + happy earthday to me. 💐
