breakdowns

(i promise you you'll be able to hear this soon)

sewn away 🤝 with sails ahead

cuppa lazy bastards

one of the coolest shows i've ever been to. first time seeing @angeldustmoney, and the last time i had seen @fouryearstrong was way back at warped 2018. seeing both for an impromptu floor show in a building i've spent so much time in (during a fuckin' nor'easter!) with some of my closest friends and peers was so fucking sick. love and respect to @bolerosnort | @boleroblockparty for making this happen.

the sickest hatebreed cover i've seen thus far tbh

Marc Ecko's Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure (2006)

probably one of the most amazing sunsets i've ever seen

still fucking hilarious

this was the first time i had seen this building since the last time i was there before it's closure. i've spent so much time in this building that it kills me to see it like this. played some of the best and scariest shows i've ever played here. long live the kingsland—hoping it can come back someday.

generational hatewatch

you both are already so dearly missed. thank you for putting your body and souls on the line for my entertainment and inspiration. and it warms my heart to know that you both were generational heels in the ring, yet anything but out. "bad times don't last, but bad guys do."

FOR THE BUTCHER

Anyone else have a game that still haunts them for all the wrong reasons?

Nightmare Creatures on the N64 has been sitting in my collection for years, but the story behind it is even better. We got it from a rental store after it had closed down. My brother had asked for Conker’s Bad Fur Day for his birthday… and somehow ended up with this instead. Talk about a birthday letdown.

This past Saturday night I decided to give it another honest shot. I made it further than I ever have before and finally reached the second level. Getting there wasn’t easy though. The controls feel clunky, the camera fights you every step of the way, and I spent more time battling the game itself than the monsters.

After finally reaching level two, my reward was realizing… it really wasn’t worth all that effort!

Still, this is exactly why I love collecting physical games. Every cartridge has a story. Some are unforgettable classics, and others are unforgettable because they’re frustrating. Either way, they’re real pieces of gaming history that deserve a spot on the shelf. Physical media rules, and no digital download can replace the memories tied to finding, renting, trading, and collecting these games.

Did anyone else actually finish Nightmare Creatures on the N64, or did you give up long before I did? Don’t forget PlayStation has a version as well!

One of the coolest things about Body Harvest is that it feels like a glimpse into the future of gaming.

Before there was Grand Theft Auto III, there was Body Harvest. It was developed by DMA Design, the studio that would later become Rockstar North, the team behind the GTA series. You can already see the DNA here: huge open levels, stealing and driving all kinds of vehicles, exploring on foot, and tackling objectives however you want. It’s basically a prototype for the open-world games we all know today.

Did you ever play this hidden gem, or is it still on your “one day” list? And if you have played it… what’s the weirdest vehicle you remember driving?

NES Cart Count: 375… okay, this one’s N64, but who’s counting? 😄
