POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

My collection of Billy Joel 8-tracks. The first one is actually The Hassles "Hour of the Wolf," repackaged as "Country Boy" in 1980 to capitalize on Billy's success. The last two are tribute albums performed by session players in the late 70s.
.
I also have doubles of Cold Spring Harbor, Piano Man, and Streetlife Serenade because one is under the Family Productions label, and the other is Columbia. Fun fact: both labels have the tracklists in different orders.
.
The Attila 8-track is custom-made. I'm not sure if that album actually exists on 8-track, but if it does, I'm sure it's *super* expensive. Kohuept is also custom-made; that one does exist on 8-track and it IS super expensive. That was the last Billy Joel album to be released on 8-track in 1987.

There is much to love about Pat Cooper’s genius stand-up comedy routines. His timing, his take on being Italian, the way the joke lands. He’s damn funny. Our conversation with his daughter @educ8rpj is anything but funny. Patti returned to the podcast two years after her first visit to discuss how things are going in 2026 after all she bravely told us about things behind the scenes in 2024. This is just part one. Part two is set for Tuesday. Everyone has a story.

Not 7 or 9 but 8 tracks. The 5.25” x 4” cartridge was the choice way to listen to your tunes from the mid 60’s throughout the 70’s. Invented by the founder of Lear Jet planes, Bill Lear worked with Ford to transform the way you listened to music while cruising. The format found itself in cars ranging from Bentleys to Beatles and gave people the choice of what to listen to instead of spinning the dial.

The 8-track could be played continuously on loop but due to the endless loop there was only play, fast forward, record, and program (track) change with no option to rewind. Also, there was no flipping the cartridge. Just pop it in and sweet melodies followed.

Eventually phased out by cassette tapes in early 80’s, the 8-track slowly became obsolete but guys like @conniedole2 are keeping the dream alive. Thanks, Don

#8TrackTuesday 🤘 Spinning the heavy sounds of Black Sabbath's "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath" (released November 1973, produced by Black Sabbath). This album saw the band pushing their sonic boundaries with a more atmospheric and progressive sound.

Disclaimer: 8-track tapes may not be the most common format, but it's a fun way to appreciate classic albums! #VintageMusic is what I love!!
