"Not to be missed… My daughter and I visited on a recommendation from someone who had already been… I felt honoured to have two retired responders share such sensitive memories with someone they’d never met." – Izadora, from UK (via @TripAdvisor) #traveltuesday

It was an honor to host the @hackensackumc's Honor Guards for yesterday’s historic procession and flag ceremony in remembrance of fallen soldiers who enlisted or took on assignments in response to the events of September 11, 2001. ⠀
⠀
A generous donation was presented by @hmhnewjersey president Mark D. Sparta, FACHE, that will directly benefit programming for the 9/11 Community. ⠀
⠀
@911tributemuseum volunteer and Honor Guard member Gordon Huie took part in the ceremony and led a special private tour of the museum following the program. The 9/11 Tribute Museum thanks the veterans, active service members, family members, Tribute volunteers and the press for attending.

"This place was not filled with darkness and heartbreak, but hope and light. Although there was certainly much pain behind it, this place was inspiring and empowering… It reminded me of all that I believe in. Of human strength. Of the amazing ability of people to overcome things worse than they could ever imagine. To live with the pain of trauma each and every day, while somehow managing to make good things come from it." 📷 by amandaoinsta #TravelTuesday

The 9/11 Tribute Museum was honored to have the Commanding Officer of the USS New York, Captain Brent DeVore, along with his wife and members of the ships crew, visit this weekend for a museum tour.⠀
⠀
One of our volunteers leading the tour, Joan Mastropaolo shared “as the daughter of a World War II Veteran of the US Navy, it was a privilege for me to share our special place with these amazing military professionals who sacrifice so much to protect our freedom every day.”⠀
⠀
Afterwards, co-founder Jennifer Adams presented them with a piece of World Trade Center steel to commemorate their visit. #FleetWeekNYC
