Spyder Saturday:

Take a look at this stunning Porsche 918 Spyder as it leaves “Kidston Cars & Coffee”. Even after more than 10 years, it still looks timeless. How time flies! 🖤

Porsche 918 Spyder (Captured on December 7, 2025)

🎨: Liquid Metal Silver 🤌

I'm really lacking on material these days so I've decided to begin exploring the archives. As soon as I heard this car was parked in front of Hyatt, I made sure to brush out a little time out of my afternoon so that I could at least catch it leave. It was a fairly special experience catching one of the least seen vehicles among the owner's collection, which only appears a couple times per year. However, this was also the last day I saw someone special in my family, so I think it wasn't worth the leap after all.

Porsche 918 Concept - The world got its first glimpse of Porsche’s 918 Spyder hypercar at the 2010 Geneva Motorshow in concept form. It was immediately a smash hit, garnering more than 2,000 declarations of interest from Porsche collectors around the world in the months following the show. This was the first time the world had seen a hypercar of this form factor from a major automaker: 875 hp V8 accompanied by hybrid power. McLaren and Ferrari would release their own hybrid contenders soon thereafter, establishing what is commonly known as the “Hybrid Holy Trinity” of early 2010’s hypercars.

Pictured here is the very concept from Geneva 2010. Those familiar with the production 918 will immediately spot drastic differences from nearly every angle. Notably, this car didn’t feature a removable hard top or the famous rear-deck-mounted exhaust outlets. Instead, the car was a true roadster with side-dump exhaust on both the left and right of the vehicle. The rear deck featured a sleek body-colored panel with two retractable air intakes that would raise vertically to increase airflow when needed. The wing was mounted from the top by two sharp support struts that acted as their own aerodynamic element in the center.

Inside, the car isn’t too far removed from the 918 Spyder we know of today. The biggest difference is the inclusion of digital displays for the rear view cameras, a feature replaced with traditional wing mirrors on the production model.

The best part of the 918 Concept is its functionality. To my surprise, it features a real engine and drivetrain under its showcar bodywork. Having a peek underneath and finding a trail of oil on the Porsche Museum floor confirmed my suspicions. I’d love to see video footage of this one on the move!

What do you think of the Porsche 918 Concept? Is it better than the 918 Spyder production car we ended up with? 💬👇

🍸 918 Spyder Weissach edition

The notorious Martini livery was first introduced to the world of Motorsport in 1968 on a Porsche 907, though it had a more iconic showing just a few years later in 1970 as the “hippie car” nicknamed for its flowing, almost psychedelic design elements. Slightly changed in ‘71 when it was used during that year’s 24 hours of Le Mans race. Of course over time many different variations have been made.

Number 56 out of many on the track, number 723 out of 918 from the factory.

One of my favorite design details of the 918 Spyder is the top mounted exhaust setup

The mostly subtle side aero-focused design features tend to catch my eye on the 918 as well

Quick recap of my favourite cars from Day 1 at @concursodeeleganciacostadelsol

Some cars are rare. Others become legends.

Yesterday I finally photographed the Lamborghini Aventador J. A car I had dreamed of seeing through my viewfinder for years, and one that somehow looks even more unreal in person.

A moment I’ll never forget.
