Another Episode Coming Up!

Excited to interview Griffin Gradke- Aesthetic & Implant Dentistry’s marketing representative from @painfree_dentalmarketing

I used to not believe in marketing. Seemed like a waste of time and—more importantly to a dentist—a waste of money. But man, was I wrong.

@925klm had to set me straight on this and make me a believer, but here I am—a full believer.

@griffingradke has waded out in the deep end on all things marketing, SEO and AI. His insight and education is invaluable.

Can’t wait for you to listen to this episode once it gets edited and up.

Thanks PainFree for sharing this guy with us. He’s a part of the family for sure.

Episode 9 on Teeth & Tunes: Trina Morgan

This week on Teeth and Tunes, I am joined by my wife, Trina Morgan, who has worked alongside me on the business side of the practice since my DFW days.

Join us for a conversation on why dental insurance hasn’t kept up, how we escaped the high-volume treadmill, and the philosophy that reshaped our practice: more dentistry on fewer patients.

We take some time to look back at how a typical dental benefit has sat at roughly $1,000 to $1,500 a year since 1990, never keeping pace with the real cost of supplies, lab work, and materials, and why that pushed us to gradually walk away from capitation plans and restrictive PPO contracts. Trina shares how replacing those plans with an in-house discounted family fee plan proved far more profitable than playing by insurance company rules, while I explain the “calf roping” trap of high-volume dentistry, why young dentists shouldn’t take on their patients’ financial limitations as their own, and how intraoral cameras and high-quality photography transformed both patient education and the quality of my work.

Topics Covered: why dental insurance benefits have been stagnant since 1990, moving from single-tooth fixes to comprehensive diagnosis, the volume trap of multi-operatory dentistry, dropping capitation and bad PPO contracts, building a profitable in-house family fee plan, Dr. Pete Dawson’s “more dentistry on fewer patients” philosophy, the power of patient education tools, and the small in-office team versus the larger digital team behind a modern practice.

Recording tonight with my best girl 😉

We’ve been team mates in life: from raising our family to growing spiritually to building multiple dental business together.

While I was working on becoming the best clinician I could be and serving patients, Trina was learning how to run a business and make it profitable.

I’m thankful I’ve had such an awesome teammate to navigate through dental insurance, accounts receivable, team building, you name it.

Trina brings a great perspective to Teeth & Tunes on how to balance work & life.

Can’t wait to get this episode out to you all :)

Always a fun time with this crew 🎄🫶🏻

@texastechclub served us up an amazing Christmas dinner. Landon wore his quint essential Whataburger Christmas sweater. We busted out mustaches in honor of Texas Tech’s linebackers (when at Tech stadium 🤷🏼‍♀️ …you gotta). My handsome nephew even made a debut in his bow tie 🥰 @kinziemm . Dr. Morgan got to be Santa Claus for a hot minute🎅🏻. The team gifted @dwmdoc with his very own car drum set and password keeping book 😜 (for those of you who know…you know).

What a fun evening with arguably THE BEST team 🙌🏻🫶🏻❤️

Big thanks to @925klm for organizing the party and being Santa’s elf 🤗😘 we love you long time.

Happy Thanksgiving from the crew at AID!

“I’ll finally be able to eat a slice of pecan pie this year.”

-we’ll never forget that quote ❤️

It’s the little things- smiling in the family photos and eating your mom’s pecan pie. Whatever it is- we’re here for it!

We’re grateful for our patients and always thankful for this team ❤️

Dr. Papa …

Warning 🚨 this post is totally a daughter/mom brag, but for our family/friends/patients who love Dr. Morgan… you’ll enjoy this too.

It’s easy being Papa. Not so fun when Papa has to put on his loupes and be Dr. Morgan for his grandbabies.

Cora (my middle daughter) needed two fillings this week so Papa went to work. Let me tell you what happened next:

Dad completed two fillings on Cora WITHOUT any anesthetic! And Cora’s only discomfort was the head rest mid procedure 😳

Read that two times slow- NO anesthetic!

I have to give credit #1 to my tough kid. She sat through it for a trip to @ultabeauty (totally worth it 😂). And #2 Papa’s gentle technique. #3 Just for more cred, Michael said that one filling was a pretty decent size.

I thought this was a post worth writing because it’s a fun story and also, when you’re in our office you’re treated like family. Which is not to say you won’t get anesthetic 😂 Dr. Morgan takes care to make sure every patient is comfortable and relaxed in our chair. We have the ability to sedate patients when needed or wanted.

I’m just saying… if a dentist is THAT good- that he can gently perform two fillings with no anesthetic on a 13 year old…y’all… he’s pretty dang good.

-Signing out- Proud Mom- Proud Daughter,
Hailey

Ep. 2 Trina Morgan on Entrepreneurship, Partnership & Balance | The Story of Our Practice

Today’s episode contains a very special guest: my wife and bride of 46 years.

Trina is very much the backbone of my practice. Early on we had to navigate the highs and lows of running a business while growing a family. Having a partnership in business & marriage is quite the combo. A work/life balance was essential to say the least.

Enjoy listening to the first part of our story :) Found wherever you listen to your podcasts.

I’ve been excited to get Linda’s interview out to the world.

We sat and had more of a conversation for 20 minutes than an interview. When I went back in to edit the footage I realized all of the sweet things she said about each team member.

This reel is more of an ode to the team, but who else could say it better than a patient?

Our team IS such a blessing. Thank you, Linda, for those sweet words. We love what we do and we love doing it together 🙌🏻 #teamworkmakesthedreamwork

The best part is that each patient becomes a team member as well.

This is one special lady ❤️ she wrapped us up from the get go. Seeing her smiling is a blessing to us- she has no idea.

Stay tuned for more good info from Linda. Next up is her health journey and how improving her oral health set her down a road to recovery.

This is why we do what we do ❤️
