Last Sunday @ryan__maeve invited me to the Heavenly Pit Chess Club. This is a private gathering, of chess fanatics old and new, that occurs every first Sunday of the month. It was a lovely evening that reminded me of how meaningful gathering is, particularly during this era of digital isolation that we are facing. The ambiance was warm, the games vivacious, and the vibes immaculate. What a wonderful way to ring in the early days of autumn, playing chess in the fresh chilly air of September. Wine is poured, cigarette embers fell, and myself and many others learned a new skill alongside new and old dear friends.

In their own words:

“Heavenly Pit Chess Club started with the two of us (@ryan__maeve & @98_hopper) spending at least one night a week after our shifts opening a special bottle and sitting with it for hours, which leaves so much room for things to unravel — the wine’s bouquet opens up, its nature changing over time with careful attention, & the game itself abstracts and takes new forms.

Really both things are just a vehicle for good conversation and connection, and we became excited about the idea of sharing these things we love to obsess over with others!

The first meeting was an intimate group, at the rose garden a little over a year ago. As interest has grown we have adapted (with the help of many friends), but ultimately we hope to keep creating a low stakes (and sexy) place for everyone, whether novice or expert, to enjoy the finer things in life. Join us! “

If you are interested in participating, feel free to leave a comment below.

Sincerely,

Sinclair Studio

Meat Party was a hurricane-tsunami-volcanic explosion of sound and energy!🌪️🌊🌋 Massive raked out chords washed over stabbing lead lines and meandering bass while Nick Schlesinger held it all together behind the kit. This project is 100% homegrown organic, tracing its origins more or less directly to Band Together. It’s always a treat to have a group of our own rock it out and these boys didn’t disappoint. They have lots of great stuff in the works, so hop on the train and join the Meat Party! 🥩
