THE CHEAPEST PERFORMANCE MOD ISN’T A PART! IT’S WHAT YOU REMOVE.

Remove 10% from a 996.1 C2—roughly 1,370 kg down to 1,233 kg—and power-to-weight improves by 11.1% without adding horsepower.

But less mass works everywhere:

– 10% less kinetic energy for the brakes to absorb
– Less load and heat in the tyres
– Less inertia under braking and through direction changes
– Sharper response, less wear and slightly more braking and cornering performance

Power can replicate the acceleration gain. Bigger brakes can manage the heat. Wider tyres can add grip, but none can deliver every benefit at once.

ONLY WEIGHT REDUCTION CAN.

A route to approximately -130 kg:

– Rear seats, belts, spare wheel, jack and tools: ~30 kg
– Two front racing seats: ~30 kg
– Lightweight battery: ~15 kg
– Lightweight exhaust: ~15 kg
– Lightweight wheels: ~12 kg
– Air-conditioning system: ~18 kg
– Selective audio and trim reduction: ~10 kg

The first kilograms are free; the final kilograms become more and more expensive.

This still leaves the heater, dashboard, carpets, door cards and electric windows. Losing the air conditioning is the clearest comfort compromise.

WHERE WOULD YOU DRAW THE LINE?

I think every car enthusiast has an inner child that still gets excited over diecasts, late-night builds, and dream garages.

This series is for that version of us.
