10.17.26 // a look at September in my journal! A super fun month of running and racing for me and Sam, including two of our favorite events, @sacramento_running_week and @urbancowhalf! I finished up this journal and started a fresh one for October–December. I’m just having so much fun with this practice — I love the mix of photos, words, pops of color, doodles, and little bits of ephemera from everyday life.

09.18.26 // Day 7 of Sac Running Week

I’ve been looking forward to running with @9run6 all week, but apparently I overextended myself a little too much. I woke up with a nagging hamstring pain that made it pretty clear running wasn’t happening today.

So, I still showed up at 5:30 and joined the walk crew for one lap around the Curtis Park neighborhood.

On the bright side, I made it home early enough to pack lunches for Sam and me, roast a batch of nuts, and still get to work a little early to catch up on all the things.

Because as a teacher, you work at work, work at home, and sometimes come in early to do even more work.

Because the work is never done.

09.09.26 // August was a full month! I started my 26th year of teaching, celebrated another trip around the sun with some girlfriends at the @sfpenshow, bought my second fountain pen — and am enjoying it so much — met a ton of awesome people, excitedly watched Sam compete in his first cross country meet as a sophomore and absolutely crush it, and ran 100 miles.

I got the idea for an ‘end note’ at the end of the month from @lascraps who got it from someone on IG. I love it and will do it at the end of every month. Here’s a look at August through the pages of my journal. I love this hobby.

07.31.26 // This month, I ran a little over 90 miles, got sick for a week, decluttered and organized my garage (there’s still a little work to do), and took a couple of trips to the beach. Sam also introduced us to Ted Lasso, so we’ve been making our way through seasons one and two, with season three up next.

I fell in love with the little beach town of Cayucos, which happens to be @beckybruin’s happy place, and I can absolutely see why.

Every day, I made time to nap, read (I finished four physical books!), and journal. I also made about a dozen journals - some to gift and some to sell - as I’m saving up for @sfpenshow on my birthday. It’s a slow process, but I loved every minute of making them.
