This past weekend was so good for my spirit.

I got to see former clients, spend time with my nephews who are becoming such fine young men, and catch up with Spelhouse classmates. But being back on Morehouse’s campus filled me up in a different way.

Morehouse is such a powerful, unique place where young Black men get nurtured and given the space to grow into who they’re becoming. I witnessed the legacy ceremony, watching incoming students stand with their Morehouse legacy family as the torch gets passed down. Then I bumped into young men preparing for their parent parting ceremony, right there on the edge of that same journey.

Getting to witness the now, and to support these young men as they grow and evolve, means so much to me.

Like I always say, there is no place in America like Morehouse. 🏛️

My oldest moves out of our house today and he is moving into Morehouse College. Over the last few weeks, I realized I’ve been preparing him his whole life to live without me, but I’ve hardly prepared myself to live without him. Y’all pray my strength this week!
