They say graduation is about earning a degree.
But for international students, it is so much more than that.
It is packing your entire life into a suitcase and stepping into a country you know almost nothing about carrying nothing but dreams, hope, faith, aspirations, and determination.

This journey was never easy.
There were days of uncertainty, moments of loneliness, financial struggles, missed meals, tears, pressure, growth, and silent battles nobody saw. But somehow, through grace, resilience, and the people God surrounded me with… we made it.

On May 9, 2026, I walked the stage.

From earning my Associate Degree at @butlergrizzlies to now completing my Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Leadership at @illinoisstateu my heart is filled with gratitude.

First, I want to sincerely thank God.
Then my parents, for every sacrifice, every prayer, and every moment of belief in me even from thousands of miles away.

To my Boss, mentor, coaches, teammates, professors, and friends thank you for being part of this story.

Special appreciation to @coachgregfranklin and everyone at Butler who helped shape my foundation.
To @d.jordan4 and everyone at Illinois State University thank you for believing in me and helping me grow into the leader I am becoming.

To my teammates you all were annoying sometimes, but you became family. The laughs, struggles, travels, practices, and memories will stay with me forever.

And to the friends who stood by me consistently checking in, encouraging me, supporting me, praying for me, celebrating me thank you. Everyone needs people like that in their corner.

Every single person who sent a message, made a post, reposted, called, supported, encouraged, corrected, prayed, or contributed to my journey in any way thank you. You are part of this success story.

Class of 2026.
Another chapter completed.

First, the Associate Degree.
Now, the Bachelor’s Degree.

Next stop: Master’s Degree.

It’s time to master what we know… and embrace what we do not yet know.

This gon be short and sweet cuz we still got outdoor but i just finished my first indoor season as an assistant coach!! The work that they have put in over the past months showed at that conference meet this past weekend👏🏾and i couldn’t be more proud. I thank Coach Jordan for giving me the opportunity to be by his side🙂‍↕️, I’m learning a lot and got the chance to learn even more. On to outdoor, when God closes one door the next one he opens will be a much better opportunity, one he know you needs‼️ LETS SLIDEEEEE @d.jordan4

🇧🇧 Barbadian Track & Field Results | January 16–18

Nya Browne of Illinois State University opened her indoor season with a win in the women’s 60m hurdles, clocking 8.47 at the Coughlan-Malloy Cup.

Ross Walrond of the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff placed fourth in the men’s 300m with a time of 33.75 at the Arkansas Invitational.

University of Virginia’s Maya Rollins posted the fastest time in the women’s 60m hurdles, stopping the clock at 8.44 at the Virginia Tech Invitational.

Grand Valley State University’s Dominic Downes advanced to the men’s 60m hurdles final with a personal-best 8.07 at the Bob Eubanks Open, before finishing second in the final in 8.13.

University of Central Florida’s Khristel Martindale placed seventh overall in the 60m final at the Jimmy Carnes Invitational with a time of 7.55.

Western Texas College’s Brandon Hinds placed 11th overall in the men’s 800m, clocking 1:52.26 at the Corky Classic.

North Iowa Community College’s Romancia Wiltshire set a new school record of 7.68 to win the 60m at the Chelsey M Henkenius Invitational
