My Guy is PHYSICAL😤🔥

A Bully.

You don’t want this Smoke.😤

I wonder if that has anything to do with his weightlifting 🤷🏽‍♂️

Watching this boy grow up these past years has been nothing short of amazing.

+7 years of work… and we’re just getting started baby

Almost didn’t post this because it looks like an “Instagram exercise”

Looks complicated. Dubbed “advanced” or “elite”. Theres a lot going on.

None of that is what makes this exercise great.

I’ve been loving this one specifically for deceleration work.

Yes, there’s a “snatch” element or pull and press, but with Evan here, we’re really focused on his return to position and BRAKING.

As the jammer arms come back down, he has to step forward, catches his position under load, and stop that load BEFORE it hits the rig. He has to control his own momentum along with it.

Think about slowing down to make a cut on the field.

You have to absorb force, control your position, and set yourself up to move again. Your upper body needs to stay under control through that transition, too.

That’s the demand we’re challenging here.

Whole posterior chain put to the test.

We don’t always do flashy things, but when we do, we choose things that work.

Raise the Standard.

Pretty Awesome to get a session in like this.

Relationships that last a decade or more are rare.
This is one them.

Our lives have gone through incredible transitions, yet this has remained consistent.

Grateful people like these have remained a backbone of the SEDULOUS family.

Did you like my wiggle? 😅

Serious question though…

What exactly makes a drill “elite?”

Is it how cool or complicated it looks?
Is it because your coach is good at it?
Is it because nobody’s seen it before?
Is it the appearance of hard be work - albeit haphazard energy expenditure?

Or is it because we simply slapped “ELITE RB DRILL” or “ELITE FOOTBALL SPEED” across the screen?

At some point, we latched onto this illusion of productivity.

Just add more weight, more bands, more steps, more cuts, more grunts in our videos… and suddenly things are ELITE.

We need to stop reaching so hard to be new, trendy, and different because we’ve forgotten what actually builds athletes.

Squat.

Hinge.

Push.

Pull.

Rotate.

Jump.

Land.

Accelerate.

Decelerate.

Change direction.

Carry.

Work bilaterally.

Work unilaterally.

Produce force.

Absorb force.

Do it well.

Then do it better.

None of that is particularly sexy.

Most of it has been around forever.

There’s a reason for that.

Elite training doesn’t require “elite-looking” exercises.

It requires developing the qualities that allow athletes to express their sport skills at a higher level.

The basics aren’t boring.

They’re undefeated.

Sport doesn’t always give you the luxury of a perfect starting position. Whether you’re getting up off the ground, reacting after a change of direction, or accelerating from an awkward stance, the ability to produce force quickly matters.

That’s why we sprint from a variety of starting positions. It challenges coordination, improves acceleration, and builds the adaptability athletes need when the game becomes unpredictable. Train beyond the perfect start so you’re prepared for the positions sport actually puts you in.

Jammer presses are a top-tier movement for athletes because they train power the way sport demands it.
Driving force from the ground, through the hips and core, up into the upper body.

✅ Explosive power from the ground up
✅ Coordination between the lower and upper body
✅ Stability and force production
✅ Extremely common movement pattern seen all the time in lacrosse and football 🏈 🥍

Train the movement patterns that show up in sport.

We Got Better Today. 👊

They listen.
They work.
They compete

Now for my annual unpopular opinion…

This summer, your athlete probably doesn’t need another 3-day showcase, combine, exposure camp, premier camp, super-duper-mega-elite camp, mini invite only travel season, or John Smith’s 1st Annual District VI Group D 11u World Championship tournament 😅

Not because these are bad things.

But because too many of today’s youth athletes are pushed to spend 8, 9, sometimes 10 months a year specializing in a single sport.

That’s a LOT of time on skill work.

What they’re often missing… Development.

Strength.
Power.
Balance.
Coordination.
Body control.
Resilience.
Confidence.
Toughness.

Learning how to produce force.
Learning how to absorb force.
Learning how to move with intent.

The funny thing?

Building those said qualities, enable an athlete to express the sport skills they practice at an even higher level.

With some other pretty cool side effects too like…

Learning how to work.
Learning how to be coached.
Learning how to compete.
Learning how to be part of a team.
Learning how to do hard things when nobody is forcing you to.

Those lessons don’t just transfer to football.

They transfer to everything.

Commit a summer to the gym, and odds are you will be a better athlete.

Stick around a few years…
And you’ll become a different person.

Simple work.
Real work.
Really effective.
