And just like that… the year came, the name tags put away, the group chats got chaotic, and my heart? Full.

Being on orientation staff this year was actually the best decision I ever made (top 3 at least… the other two involve food). I got to welcome hundreds of new students, hype them up, calm their nerves, and maybe even change a few lives along the way. But let’s be real—they changed mine too.

To my day-ones, my chaos crew, my forever fam: Ellie, Jaytee, Nydiah, and Skylar—y’all are the siblings I didn’t know I needed but now can’t live without. From inside jokes to long talks to wild group messages I probably shouldn’t screenshot… thank you for being exactly the people I needed.

And of course, to our big, the one who somehow kept us on track and slightly sane—Sam. You had way too much patience with us, and I’ll never stop being grateful for it.

This role wasn’t just about lanyards and icebreakers. It was about impact, growth, deep belly laughs, and the kind of memories you replay when life gets too quiet. So here’s to the good times, the awkward dance circles, the last-minute runs to get secret buddy gifts, and all the students who reminded me why I signed up in the first place.

Being apart of the @ulstudentorientation staff has been nothing short of a blessing. From the connections I’ve made, the laughs, tears, and tours, I couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

To SOS ‘25 staff, thank you for being so supportive to everyone and stepping up. We’ve been through a lot during the Spring and Summer, but we’ve powered through till the end. Being apart of this group has helped push me in ways I didn’t know were even possible. I’ll forever cherish the memories we’ve made with each other.

To my siblings, thank you for being my older siblings and keeping me sane. We’ve been through a lot of ups and downs, but we’ve always stuck together. I’ll never forget when we were all paired with one another during winter retreat and we had to solve that puzzle. You’ll always be the big siblings I could have ever wanted.

To my Big, Talik, I am truly blessed to have you in my life. I don’t know how I would have survived Spring semester without your encouragement and guidance. Since the first day I found out you were my big, you’ve shown me what it means to be an effective leader. The way you carry yourself and present yourself is a powerful thing. I can’t wait to see where the future takes you once you graduate. Just know I will be cheering you on every step of the way.

Lastly, to Lauren and Morgan, thank you for giving me the opportunity to be on this staff. From the moment, I came to my own orientation session a year ago and witnessed what my DG leaders, Aniya and Jermar, were doing I felt the Lord call me to be on the orientation staff. I leaped at the opportunity and I so glad I did. Both of you have shown m and the rest of staff what strength and resilience is under pressure. I’m grateful that I was able to work with you this summer and I will forever be happy that I meet you two.

this was the summer of a lifetime. i owe my everything to this organization and all the people who made every session possible. i’m so grateful for being given the opportunity to be an orientation leader and loved every last second.
to all of the staff: thank you for welcoming me in with open arms and giving me the time to come out my shell. i have made so many friendships that will last a lifetime and i love each and every one of you soooooooo much.
to my fam and big: i couldn’t imagine a more perfect fam for me. from when we first met to our last pizookie together, i have cherished every moment as a ckt and can’t wait for our next fam date.
