Want to hear the dub of Fukushima on cassette? . FUKUSHIMA / 2026 began with photographs and field recordings made in Iwaki, Futaba and Namie in July 2026. Through double exposure, I began looking at the layers of memory, trauma, everyday life and regeneration that exist in Fukushima 15 years after 3.11. The recordings are transferred to magnetic tape and dubbed through successive generations - each copy becoming a little different from the last. A cassette orchestra , a chamber piece , a threnody for Fukushima. This is only the beginning. FUKUSHIMA / 2026 Parkdale Biennial @gallery1313 - Process Gallery September 2-13, 2026 Reception: September 3, 6:30 PM 1313 Queen St. W., Toronto

betcover!! betcover!! ⁡ #betcover!!

Early spring—especially heading into summer—once the AC is on, kids call it “guang-dang cai” (咣当菜, a Shanghainese nickname), because of the sound it makes when you bite into it. Whether it’s eaten piping hot (热吹潽烫, ni-kcy-pu-tang in Shanghainese) or til cold, you can keep going back for more chopsticks and the flavour never fades.

It’s not just the taste from childhood. Even after growing up, I still find myself thinking This is that taste. Whether it’s the school canteen, home cooking, or restaurants— it’s all the same unmistakable flavor.
