I spent the entire month of August here in Naples because I had some projects to pursue. I’ve often mixed up work relationships and friendships, not for any ulterior motive, but because unfortunately, I’m finding it increasingly difficult to find people who share the same values and who can truly teach me something. In Naples, we say, ““Fattella cu chi è meglio ‘e te e fance ‘e spese”. A few bad things have happened to me lately that have led me to further reevaluate the concept of “friendship.” People I’ve known for twenty years who have stolen from me (literally), slandered me, and spoken ill of me, and people I’ve known for just over a year who encourage me to be the best version of myself. I’ve often heard people say, “If you get screwed, it’s your fault; you’re too good,” as if being a good person these days were a flaw rather than a virtue. I like to think, instead, that those who put up with and support me will always have someone to count on. I’ve always kept my word, I’ve never wished anyone ill, and so I want to thank you, who, even though you’ve only recently become part of my life, have taught me one last great lesson. Ad maiora guys. Love you. Thank you sonmuch for being such magical people.
