A little recap of yesterday’s @reelasian press launch @sankofasquare ❤️

Such a full-circle moment 🥹 My first acting role was in Banana Bruises, directed by @joycewongjoyce which premiered at Reel Asian TWENTY YEARS ago. Now I’m back with my own short film as a first-time director.

Forever grateful to Reel Asian for helping me find my voice as an emerging filmmaker and giving me a platform to share it.

I really believe everything happens for a reason and all the trials and tribulations that comes with being an artist has brought me here.

I’m so excited for the world premiere of The Children Trap at TIFF Lightbox on November 15th! #reelasian30

THE DAY BEFORE.

Part 3 of 10 with Reel Asian Staff getting the party set for an unforgettable 30th anniversary celebration.

THE DAY BEFORE is a photo series focused on the mundane moments leading up to Reel Asian’s 30th anniversary festival in November. By turning attention away from the celebration itself, the series captures the quiet moments of preparation, anticipation, and connection that often go unnoticed, celebrating the people and everyday experiences behind the occasion.

Save the date for our festival taking place in-person Nov 11–21, and online Nov 16–29.

📸Photo series by photographer @yu.jie.wang

This project is funded by @artworks.to Youth Program in partnership with Reel Asian.

Thank you to Christopher Heron and The Seventh Art for such a thoughtful conversation about THE HIGHWAY…and for getting extra nerdy with me about Chongqing, shooting at night, sound design, and the sheep. 🐑

Spotting our IWD bag during TIFF👀

This tote bag features the names of every Reel Asian Executive Director over our 30 years. Created for International Women’s Day, the limited edition bag is a small tribute to the women who have led this organization, each building on the work of the one before.

Head over to TIFF Shop to get your own!

To kick off TIFF, Reel Asian gathered patrons, filmmakers, artists, and friends at @loro.ca to celebrate the Reel Asian Alumni Network (RAAN).

This year, we are proud to toast Reel Asian alumni whose films are part of TIFF’s Official Selection. Their work had previously screened at Reel Asian at different points in their careers, reflecting our community that keeps growing around this festival!
