Ball-handling isn’t just a “guard skill”, it’s a basketball skill. No matter your position, being able to control the ball under pressure helps you create space, make cleaner reads, and stay composed when the game speeds up. ⛹🏽‍♂️

Bigs who can handle can push in transition, play off the catch, and make defenses pay when they overcommit.

The key is consistency. Elite ball-handling doesn’t come from random workouts. It comes from daily reps, intentional pace changes, and training game-like moves you can actually get to in traffic. 🚦

And if you want real growth, you’ve got to build trust in your off/weak hand until it’s not “weak” anymore. If you can handle the ball, you can impact the game anywhere on the floor. ⛹️

Canvas Basketball… training that translates. 🏀

On Thursday evening as I was packing to head to Memphis for an event, I began to get this pain an pressure in my chest. After a while, pain, numbness, and tingling moved in to my arm and neck on my left side. Naturally, after never feeling like like this before it scared me. With a history of strokes in my family you can only imagine what I was feeling. Initially planning to drive my dad insisted the paramedics be called. They examined me and said I needed to go to the hospital. My blood pressure was extremely high and my symptoms weren't changing. I tried not to panic and continued to yell God what I needed. I was eventually admitted to the hospital and had to pray a little harder. I'm so thankful for my family. My husband, son, parents, niece and sister all came to see me and tell me what I wasn't allowed to do. While going through all of this my mind kept thinking.I have to be in Gainesville on Sunday. I cannot miss my baby's graduation. (Yes he's a grown man I know) So I kept talking to God. I was eventually released late Friday afternoon and told to take it easy. I did. I was even bleesed enough to have my 18 year old as a chauffeur. We made it to Gainesville for us to witness one of the proudest days of my life. I witnessed our oldest son realize the dream of graduating from the University of Florida College of Jouranlism and Communications. These are the moments and people that matter most! Thank God for allowing me the ability to have this moment.

P.s. I'm back to resting today. Ain't nothing like the favor of God!

At Canvas Skills Academy, training is about more than just reps. It’s about awareness, feedback, and growth in real time. By using @rayban @meta glasses in our basketball workouts, we’re able to bring athletes closer to the game through a first-person perspective that helps them better understand decision-making, positioning, and overall basketball IQ. 🧠🏀

What separates us is our commitment to combining skill development with technology and innovation. We’re not just putting athletes through drills, we’re creating a learning experience that helps them see the game differently, build confidence, and make smarter plays. 👓📲

High school guard Caleb Godwin @___cal3b is putting in real work. A high-level shooter with great strength throughout his game. He continues to develop the tools that translate in real time. 🏀

This is what our new training program is all about: game speed sessions, intentional development, and helping athletes sharpen the details that separate them. 🧠💪

More sessions on the way. 🎥

**Long Post**
It’s Saturday morning, and I’ve been up since 4 am, thinking and praying in silence. I want to open my mouth, but can only think of what to say to God, and still, I know He understands. For years, people have seen my life and my family’s life and formed their opinions, but they never really knew the battles we faced. I’ve prayed with and for my husband as I watched him take every punch, get knocked down, and fight so hard to get back up. It hasn’t been easy for him, but he continues to fight.
As adults, we lean on past lessons to carry us through, but for our son, it was on-the-job training. I often wondered how he was coping and how I could shield him from the pain of watching his Superman fight for his life. So many times I’ve heard, “You’re a strong woman, Casey and Caleb are lucky to have you.” But I am the blessed one. It has never been about luck; it has always been about being blessed.
Yesterday, Casey and I had the honor of taking our son to his first official recruiting visit. For some, it may seem small, but for us, it was yet another reminder that God has never left us and that His word is true. “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11)
As we watched him go through the workout, I realized everything he has gone through prepared him for this moment. He was not afraid; he was not shaken. He knew it was his time. He understood that it was finally his time. He wasn't watching from the sidelines and being happy for his brothers, but finally stepping into his moment. God blessed us with a front row seat to see his gifts making room for him.
In one week, we will drop him off at Lakeview Basketball Academy, another step on the journey to his dream. This is one of the hardest things I’ve had to do as a mother, but I know the promises of God. I know He will cover and keep him. And I know this story is only beginning.
