Two of the most inspiring performances happened today. At 1:12 pm, out of the blue, Ashton Barkdull, an already-incredible pole vaulter seeded with a qualifying mark of 15'0", soared half a foot above a newly broken personal best only a few minutes old to set the all-time state meet record in Kansas, more than one foot and seven inches higher than seeded. And, only an hour later, Sarah Schwartz, one of the highest achieving athletes entered into the whole state meet based on qualifying marks, one of only three athletes at the meet who arrived mathematically and statistically ranked in an event so highly that they would likely still be the best out of most randomly selected groups of 10,000 high school athletes, with a long jump qualifying distance of over 19', battled a huge headwind higher than all the other athletes in the long jump in her class endured for their top marks except for her own teammate, and still came out ahead with the gold.

She pulled it off at Regionals! Broke her personal record with a 19’1” in Long jump and headed to State! Great job, @[100024205791222:Sarah Schwartz] and good luck next week.

Yes there were meets last night, but just ignore that for this post! These marks are all from last week, and are the last set of the Garmin Leaderboard rankings for this week! Here’s all 24 of them!

Edit: The boy’s high jump should all have heights of 6-6, not including any jumps from competition after last Saturday.
