Voyeur • The Opera House • Toronto • September 11, 2026

Every once in a while a band comes out of nowhere. Never heard them before. Never seen them. No expectations at all.

Voyeur was that band.

Less than a song in and I already knew. By the end of the set they were right near the top of my list of bands I want to see again.

There were just these tiny little hints of Bar Italia in there. Very small. Not copying them. Not even close. Just something in the guy/girl vocals. The tension between them. The guitars and that slightly sexual thing they have going on.

I mentioned Bar Italia to the guitarist after the set and he said yeah there is a similarity. Then he told me they actually toured with Bar Italia for ten dates last year. So apparently I wasn’t completely imagining it.

And this is exactly why I watch the opening bands. Sometimes you walk in knowing nothing about somebody and 40 minutes later you have a new band you’re going to follow.

Voyeur are now very high on that list.

Great band. I would see them again without even thinking about it.

NEW RRREVIEW! 🍕🐀
.

At @warsawconcerts 🗽

“You bored? Take your paws out your pockets and make some music. Or keep reading to dive into our account of Kim Gordon’s takeover of NYC’s Warsaw theatre. We were there for night one of the sold out two-evening double feature. With opening support from Voyeur, we spent the vesper hours transfixed by all the hits from Gordon’s 2026 solo release, PLAY ME. We’re still digesting the avant-ness of the performance but here’s our notes from the moment.”

I didn’t know what to expect from the legendary @kimletgordon having only heard the new record day of show. Bill Nace opened things with his electric Taisho harp, I think. Next up was @___voyeur and the crowd loved it. Kim Gordon ended the night by playing her Play Me album front to back! She had other newer solo era songs as well. If you’re hoping for any Sonic Youth hits, this ain’t the show!
