POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Every verse from him feels like a glimpse into a world of its own.
There’s a certain rawness in his sound the confidence, the emotion, and the stories hidden within the music.

He’s not just rapping for the sake of making noise.
There’s intent behind the words, a perspective behind every line, and a sound that feels distinctly his.

You can hear the confidence in his tone, the kind that comes from not wanting to become someone else.

This week, we’ve got ARRED on People - talking about his music, his journey, what inspires his sound, and the story behind the artist he’s becoming.

I heard rap for the first time in a school van. I was in Class 1 when our van driver, Uncle Patrick, would play Indian rap. This was before Honey Singh made the genre a household name. I didn’t understand rap then, but something about it stayed with me.

By Class 4, I heard Raftaar’s “Swag Mera Desi” and wanted to impress my friends, so I memorised the entire song. I knew nothing about flow or rhyme schemes. I just knew the words and thought it was cool. As my interest in music grew, my parents wanted me to focus on studies, and I moved from Mount Litera School to Hill Top School.

Then came lockdown. With nowhere to go, I started listening to rap properly. I researched artists and even listened during online classes. KR$NA’s “Say My Name”, in English and Hindi, caught my attention. I wondered how two languages could express the same meaning so seamlessly.

When lockdown ended, I wanted to rap, perform and create. I started performing in school, and seeing my passion, my father suggested I study music professionally.

After school, I joined the Audio Engineering in Music Production course at SACAC, Delhi. But moving away from Jamshedpur was harder than expected. I missed my friends, familiar places and home, so I started making music around that loneliness.

That is how Mr. Kalimati was born.

He became the title character of my first album, released in November 2025. I wasn’t prepared for the love I received. People of Jamshedpur showed up, celebrated the music and made me realise something simple: ghar ghar hota hai.

Once, even a Blinkit delivery guy recognised me. Later, at a small meetup, people came carrying gifts for me. I was honestly overwhelmed. Sometimes I feel that 50 shows in Delhi cannot match the love I receive at one show back home.

Today, I have my own studio, SONIC TAPE, in Delhi, and I’m exploring new characters through music. But Mr. Kalimati will always remain close to me. He never says “main”, he says “hum”.

I want to make music that speaks to people, achieve everything I dream of, but never leave the character, the city or my roots behind.

Because "what I once found cool is what I’m becoming."

I don't know how to put this feeling into words, but I'll try.
There was a time when these songs were just thoughts I was too scared to share. They lived in my notes, in late-night recordings, in moments when nobody knew what I was creating. I kept believing that one day, somehow, they'd find their way to people.
And they did.
The FASANA Listening Session wasn't about a stage or an event. It was about watching a dream I held onto for so long finally become real. Seeing people show up, listening to the music, talking about it, encouraging me, taking pictures, and making me feel like this journey is worth every sleepless night... that's a feeling I'll carry with me forever.
To everyone who came—you gave me something much bigger than support. You gave me confidence. You reminded me that dreams grow because people believe in them.
Years from now, when this journey is much bigger, I know I'll come back to this memory. I'll remember the faces, the conversations, the laughter, and the overwhelming gratitude I felt that day.
Thank you for becoming a part of FASANA. Thank you for believing in me before there was any reason to. I truly hope that one day, when we look back, we can proudly say...

From the deepest corner of my heart, thank you, Jamshedpur. This city gave me more love than I could have ever asked for. This is only the beginning.

"We were there when it all began." 🤍
