I look at you and you bring both smile to my face and tears to my eyes. I am blown away by your strength. Your resilience. Your vulnerability.

I watched you give up on life. When your world came crashing down with the death of your mom and the cheating of someone you loved, all within 14 hours of each other. I stood by in a corner and watched you cried from a hallowed place in you. I watch you come close to the edge of quitting. I watched persons you loved and cared for and show up for standing a far off because they had no idea how to comfort you. I watch the few brave ones who stepped forward to sit in silence and just to hold you.

I watched when you came to your lowliest place and when you looked and there was no one around every single second of the day you entrusted your breathing, your lungs, your heart, to the only ONE who was there. I witness YHWH breathe life into you. I watched you take your first bite of a meal after 40 plus days of not eating. I watched you day by day crawl out of bed and headed to classes, did school work and poured out your best. I watched you relinquish your will, your desire to Him.

Then slowly as winter changes to Spring, I saw you smiling again, giggling. I saw you dance. I heard when your desire for death and nothingness changed to plans for the future. Changed to the pursuit of dreams you didn't even know you had in you. I watched proclamation of greatness of you and your work and your friends came from your lips. I watch you trade the cloak of darkness and gloom for a glory and a glow that only comes from God. I watched you BECOME.

And so today, this is the birthing of the You that has been formed in this season. Today we celebrate not just a birthday but the victory over death. The consuming of depression. The exchange of ashes for beauty. The trading of your sorrows for the horn of your salvation. For a life determined and predestined by God. For the new things of this season and for a chapter curated and written by the greatest Author of all times.

On September 12 and 13, I serve my last two days in the capacity of Postgraduate School Rep for the School of Business and Society.

I was so excited and thrilled to share all the amazing things I knew about this fabulous School, its lecturers, programs and programme leaders that after having relocated to Bromley UK to complete my dissertation, I traveled by train from London King's Cross to York, stayed in the SafeStay Hostel for 2 nights to ensure that I did this. Not because I was compelled or forced but because this place had changed my life, it had scaffold me when I was falling apart. It had provided a refreshing warm and loving place for healing. It had academically stretched me.

Ali said Sara, you are so much more confident than when I just met you. And a parent who was from Jamaican ancestry said to her daughter on my school tour, this is not a tour, this is a passing on of insights. The Student Wellbeing Officer said I would do amazing as a Higher Education Student Administrator or International Student Officer.

I didn't do it for the accolades, or the praises, or even recognition. The Lord has designed me as a vessel that was always pouring out. I am not a gatekeeper, but I hold the gate open for everyone to come through. I share knowledge. It is my mandate to do what I can to make people's lives better.

To serve as the School of Business and Society Postgraduate School Rep has been an immense pleasure of mine. Thank you for trusting me. I am forever an advocate for this amazing University and this School.

So when you have submitted a dissertation, 6 chapters and 95 pages long, over 18,404 words from chapter 1 to chapter 6 and 23,544 words overall, 601 paragraphs, 2684 lines and over 11 pages of references what do you do???

CELEBRATE!!!

Thank you to the amazing people in my life and my small circle, who sent loads of congrats, opened their home to me and celebrated this milestone with me

Of course this is celebration #1 because who's birthday is in a couple days?? Mineeee!!!

Thank you Lord, your favour towards me was immeasurable.

Even I wouldn't believe I was actually doing school work....lol. but because I knew the kind of mental stretching that was happening, the many hours of prayers that have been prayed on my behalf, for wisdom and mental fortitude. The tears that I have cried: the pages that have been wet because grief collided with frustration and mental exhaustion. The moments I came close to giving up and throwing in the towel. The questions of "who the hell am I even doing this for anyway?". The hours accumulated for student support counseling. The phones calls of encouragement, the text messages, the small intimate settings that made me relax and self regulate. The bicycle rides with @big_murungi . The hilarious talks and testimonies talks with @anhyira_lexi . The motherly hugs and affirmations from @mariajosecastillo180. The prayers from my church community. The observatory eyes from @ron_iqu3 that said I am so proud of you. The love from my heart beat @__chalice

And for those who I won't name here, who called and texted and prayed and bought cards and took me out to eat, and video called and made me laugh and assisted me when I needed information about my assessments.

This post is a reflection of this academic journey and a thank you to God and to all of you. Those behind the scenes and those who offered to arudy with me so I could focus. So, yes. I was actually doing school work and God have been and still is answering your prayers.

Yesterday was one year since I arrived in the UK, and it also marked the day I submitted my dissertation. Wheeeeww!! No one can take God's glory or His credit. I know for sure. It was all Him and the Glory belongs to Him.

I end this portion of this journey with exactly how I started it..."In His time, I God will do it!!" ISAIAH 60:22.

UK FIRE Alert!!!🔥🔥 ....lol🤣🤣🤣😆😆

Anyways fun and joke. This was one of the best moments, I experienced in the last couple of months, amdist anxiety, tears, grief, fear and everything else that this last part of a UK Masters journey comes with.

BUT, you know in reality opportunities like these dont manufacture themselves often and so you take them when you can.

I had a blast. I laugh for the whole time and I felt welcomed, loved and supported in every way. AND I will say it the ALL THE TIME, this group of male Chevening and Commonwealth Scholars...them a some man! All round. Periodt. 👌 #clockit

I experienced Edinburgh, Scotland from a different lens this time. Last time I was in Dundee, it was for a Bible camp, a moment of refueling and recentering. This time I went to Scotland to be the tourist but in my own way.

I am not particularly drawn to castles and museums and galleries. But architecture, and in Edinburgh its like 4D, the buildings feel like they are coming at you and that magnifies the majestic aura. I loved the cobble streets, the little alley way on Circus Lane and the river walk in Dean's Village. The wings at Wingstop was fabulous and let's not talk about the rooftop experience at 1821 Johnny Walker Rootop Restaurant. Like I made sure I had a good time.

Travel has taught me so much about me, it has strengthened my character and really deepen my reliance and relationship with God, and I continue to be grateful.

I fell in love with Scotland. If ever there was a place to visit and explore AGAIN, it would be Scotland. 😊.

God doesn't have plan B!! His only plan is the one He has for you. He is not worried that it wont work. He isnt surprised at anything, not even our decisions good or bad. We cant derail His plan. His intentions of delay, rerouting or pivot, is strategically calculated. His plans have destiny helpers along the way to aid in its execution.

That was me arriving here at York. I arrived the year when there was no Home student, no Chinese student and a completely global community.

I did not know I would make it but God knew I would. Celebrating the completion of my 2nd semester, teaching and a amazing dissertation presentation. Now on to writing 😌🙂‍↕️.

I am truly grateful for everyone who called, prayed, held up my hand throughout this season.

Guys we are close to the finish line, Thank you.

And he withdrew himself into the wilderness, and prayed.

At the busiest season of the year. Assessments due. Dissertation meetings and presentations. Research assistant reports and event feedback analysis... I WITHDREW.

If you had asked me, Sara would you do this in the beginning of my journey. I would have assess and calculated and told you, it would not have been the wisest decision to make.

BUT when you have hit rock bottom, seen your death and God gave you another chance and poured more life into you; in all honesty degrees are valuable but PEACE, Mental Health, Healing, Restoration becomes much more valuable and so...

I headed off to Dundee Scotland for my first ever Bible Retreat. I can say it was the first time in a long while I didnt have to think about anything at all but just SIT and be fed!! Fed spiritual, emotionally, and physically. I was loved upon. I was poured into. I was met, seen, held and cared for. God was intentional about me. ...and so when I found this song the other day...it was the perfect way to express my feelings. I ALIVE, AND I AM NOT AN ACCIDENT!!

I now have a smile on my face and REAL JOY because I traded my sorrow and my tears and though I still cry sometimes, now I go rest in my Father's arms.

PRAYER: I pray peace over all of you who read this. I pray that you will ALLOW GOD to give you what you NEED not what you want. I pray that He will come in, with your permission, to make all things that went wrong, Right. I pray you will trust Him. Let Go and let Him do, even if you dont understand all the time or none at all, what He is doing. God bless you. May the grace on my life fall on you!!

Praise Break!!!!

In between reading pages and pages of references and trying to make sense. My butt hurts and in my room is cold. Outside is dark and grey ( nothing new there) but in this moment I decide to focus on how far God has brought me and how truly amidst everything we can choose to be happy and childlike IF WE CHOOSE. For the remainder of this assessment period I chose to rely on God, stop to shake my bump, move ma legs, breathe and Give Him thanks.

I AM SURVIVING....

They say get outside. Do new things. Explore. Distract your mind. Hang out with your friends. Meet new people. Talk. Laugh.

They even said "find a new normal". Dont stay inside by yourself. Get fresh air. BREATHE.

....so today was impromptu. I left my house to fulfil my duties as a Student Ambassador for my school, the School of Business and Society. I saw prospective students with their parents, spoke to a girl about how I knew this was the Uni God wanted me to attend. She smiled. Not sure if that helped her with her decision.

And then I headed to the City Centre to get fresh air, saw another Chevening Scholar and together we tried to see how many of the ice sculptures we found. Out of 35 we found 20.

Do something new ✔️
Hang out with friends ✔️
Meet New people, Talk, Laugh ✔️
BREATHE ......ALOT ✔️

I have not survived but I am SURVIVING.

Dedicated to the my mom and the love of my life...my heart beat. That girl who's been holding me down. I love you always. 😍 who's been taking them bawling phone calls.

Yesterday I woke up thinking about my mom, about the fact that exactly one month ago it was the last time I touched her cold hands, and fixed her hair. I thought about the amount of times this passed month I missed her and made attempts to call her but ended up calling my friends instead.

I was nervous, thinking that maybe I was going to make this day such a drag for my friends as we headed to Newcastle BUT instead

While I cried out in my heart to Him. Lit a candle at the Newcastle Cathedral in memory of her, cried my heart out at the altar., I did not know God was waiting to say "babygirl, I see you and I hear your heart".

We had visited Laing Art Gallery, but it was not there God met me, it was a little exhibition inside Newcastle Cathedral by a cathedral Vrager. He had been taking photos behind the scene as he served for the last couple of years, capturing ways God showed up in places uncommon, it was entitled "God is in the details", the Psalm on the wall made me collapse because why was it saying exactly how I felt? The little messages in the photos refocused my eyes to God. And in the end when the photographer asked what did we see, it was not what I had seen, it was how much "I felt Seen".

Thank you guys for loving on me @mariajosecastillo180 @gustavopadillav @bluenblack25 .... @gregtgregt thank you for bringing my attention to this showcase. It spoke deeply to me.
