Black Wall Street Tour, Stop 4: Forty Acres Fresh Market in Austin. 🛒✊🏾

After the Civil War, our ancestors were promised 40 acres and a mule. That promise was broken. Today we stood inside a Black-owned grocery store on the West Side that answers that history with ownership.

Thank you to Liz Abunaw and the Forty Acres team for having us. This is what it looks like when we stop waiting for someone to invest in our neighborhoods and build it ourselves. Fresh food, local jobs, and dollars that stay in the community.

Black Wall Street isn’t just a history lesson. It’s a blueprint. Shop here, support here, build here. 🏙️

Black Wall Street Tour, Stop 3: North Lawndale. 🏙️

North Lawndale is a neighborhood with deep roots in the fight for economic justice. Dr. King lived here in 1966 to shine a light on housing and wealth inequality in Chicago. Decades later, we’re back on these same blocks with the same mission: turning the struggle for access into a plan for ownership.

Thank you to everyone who pulled up, shared their story, and stayed to build with us. The West Side has always had the talent, the culture, and the heart. Now we’re building the wealth to match.

South Side ✅ West Side, let’s go. Ownership is the assignment. ✊🏾

Black Wall Street Tour, Stop 2: The Brew in South Shore. ☕🌊

Huge thank you to The Brew for opening your doors and hosting us. This is what Black Wall Street looks like in real life: a Black-owned business in our neighborhood creating space for the community to gather, learn, and build together.

Every dollar we spend in places like this is a vote for the kind of community we want to live in. Support local, support Black-owned, and keep the money circulating at home.

From Rainbow PUSH this morning to South Shore this afternoon, the movement is moving. Ownership is the assignment. 🏙️✊🏾

Stop 1 of the Black Wall Street Tour: Rainbow PUSH. ✊🏾

We didn’t pick this place by accident. This is the house Rev. Jesse Jackson built, where generations of organizers, preachers, workers, and dreamers came together to push for jobs, voting rights, economic justice, and a seat at the table.

They fought for access. Our generation’s job is ownership.

So we started where the movement has always lived. Same building, same fight, new chapter. Financial literacy, entrepreneurship, voter power, and community wealth for the South and West Sides of Chicago.

The work they started isn’t history. It’s an assignment. And we’re here to organize, build, and push it forward. 🏙️

Stop 1 ✅ Next stop: Far South 👉🏾

Gratitude to @blackfirebrigade 🙏🏾🔥

Yesterday, the Black Wall Street Tour team had the pleasure of meeting at the Black Fire Brigade on 5349 S. Wabash as we prepared for tomorrow’s historic event.

Black Fire Brigade has been creating first responders in our community through EMT training and workforce development programs, opening real career pathways for our people. That’s what economic empowerment looks like in action.

Thank you for opening your doors to us and supporting the vision. Tomorrow we ride. 🚌✊🏾
