"What Remains, Remain, Remember " took the form of an exhibition as the final presentation of my residency in Surabaya.

During my month-long residency at @ren___tang , I visited Chinese communities and temples across Surabaya. I was surrounded by familiar characters, deities and ornaments, yet the language spoken around me was one I could not follow. This exhibition grows from that gap: between language that is seen, written and spoken.

At the opening, @duniadalamanalog responded with a live set remixing cassettes of Chinese songs collected across Indonesia, giving these traces a voice again.

What remains is never complete. But in every transfer and every loss, something keeps coming into being.

Venue: @c2olibrary , Surabaya
Dates: 11 - 25 October 2026

An evening of art, memory, and traces that remain.

Honored to open *Where Traces Linger*, an exhibition in collaboration with the Embassy of Peru, bringing together stories and impressions that continue to linger beyond what we see.

A beautiful evening celebrating the connection between Peru and Indonesia through art. #orasisartspace #peruindonesia #wheretraceslinger

*Where Traces Linger*, curated by Yoppy Pieter, brings together works that explore memory through archival materials, portraits, and installations. The exhibition presents various perspectives on how places, communities, and histories are shattered and subsequently remembered—ranging from the landscapes of Peru, the lives of Indigenous peoples, and social transformations, to portraits of the Andes and the lingering remnants of loss and destruction.

Through the works of Gabriel Barreto Bentín, Martín Chambi, César Meza, Walter O. Runcie, Charles Kroehle, and Sultan Putra, the exhibition invites us to view traces not merely as signs of something that has passed, but as elements that remain present—touching and shaping the way we understand the contemporary world. #orasisartspace #peruindonesia #wheretraceslinger

Last Sunday, Haxen’s final presentation opened to the public. Showcasing several works produced during the residency, the presentation runs until 25 October 2026.

Haxen’s body of work explores questions surrounding Chinese cultural identity and how it has been shaped and transformed in Surabaya. The opening was accompanied by a performance by Dunia Dalam Analog, a Surabaya-based sound practitioner focusing on underrepresented sounds from across Nusantara.

Come and experience Haxen’s body of work at C2O Library. Open to the public, this program runs from Wednesday to Sunday. We look forward to welcoming you!

For the first two weeks in Surabaya, Haxen has dived deep into Chinese-Indonesian diaspora culture in Surabaya. His research is not about finding the purity of one’s cultural identity, but rather about the continuous change of cultural identity in Surabaya. Through various material traces that he found during this residency, Haxen tried to attach and detach objects that carry embedded social and cultural structures.

Follow us to see how Haxen’s works will be presented in his final presentation soon.

It was such a joy to lead the first day of workshops for @parasite.hk’s Workshops for Arts Professionals this summer ☀️

We started the morning with a Monday Chatroom session, getting to know the participants and their positions on art and tech today. The afternoon session focused more on identifying challenges and areas for growth in our fields, and devising possible solutions to address them. I shared numerous projects from Web3, including (and especially) ones that failed, as case studies for how we might intervene.

Thank you again to the entire Para Site team, and especially to @lookstefan and @yuenyukl, who nudged me to look back at my learnings from Web3. It is my time building and learning and curating in Web3 that taught me how much value there is in embodied research, and I appreciated the opportunity to look back at projects and spaces that I have held close to me, even if they did cease.

I look forward to seeing how you all continue to build 🧚
