Huge thanks to everyone who joined us for our AiR fundraiser and supported the programme - we raised £2,317 so far!

To Delyth Field (@maiyanaya) for a wonderful performance, (@gabrielprokofiev) for hosting us at Prokofiev Studios (and the vodka toast!), Elischa Kaminer (@mosesxsalome)for reflecting on his time as an AiR, and Daria Challah of @herbert.music our guest AiR panelist, for her continued inspiration, generosity and dedication to uplifting adventurous music and the artists behind it.

As an independent charity, we rely heavily on the support of our community, including everyone who comes to our events and buys our records, and our funders who make the work possible. At a time when the arts are facing a funding emergency, and particularly shrinking the opportunities available for emerging artists to experiment and develop with support, your help is more important than ever.

Join our community by making a donation - from £2 to £200. Every little helps us create space for new ideas, new voices and music that might otherwise go unheard.

Even better, all donations (up to £5k) are matched until the end of November, meaning £5 = £10 to nonclassical!

We’re so grateful to the amazing person who has offered this match funding, knowing the real difference it makes.

All donations will go toward nonclassical AiR, our Artist-in-Residence programme, which has helped artists develop their practice and build their careers for 10 years now. Over this time we’ve supported some incredible artists, and we love seeing them go on to impact thousands of lives through their music beyond the scheme.

We’re incredibly excited to see what our 2026–28 cohort, @__felixtaylor, Delyth Field (@maiyanaya), @kinnartmusic and Cecilia Morgan (@afromerm), create over the next two years.

Together we can support the next generation of experimental artists. Donate to our AiR programme via the link in bio.

It really means a lot to see Imani Mason Jordan shortlisted for the TS Eliot Prize.

Back in November 2023, @homopathic performed at MACBA's Capella as part of our programme on Geopoetics. We were barely a month into Israel's genocidal assault on Gaza. Images of mass bombardment filled our screens, while voices defending Palestinian lives were being silenced across the public sphere. It was hard to sit and listen to poetry when words themselves seemed so insignificant, so inadequate in the face of what we were witnessing.

But Imani's words hit hard. Their poetry and oration speak truth - what we know to be true - to power and, perhaps just as importantly, to ourselves. Many of us were in tears during that performance. Thanks, dear Imani, for channelling our anger with so much tenderness, love and precision ❤️‍🔥

For the month of October, we welcome felix taylor for a residency and takeover as part of sounding towards - -.

felix taylor is an artist and composer from South London. His work explores the different ways music and sound are recorded and reproduced, which often includes composing alongside speech, performance and field recordings created communally in workshops and recording sessions, often with non-musicians. Most of his works are written for or with specific listening and recording technologies like FM radio, custom-built speakers, consumer hifis or a mixture of Western and graphic notation.

felix will use the site as an open studio to develop new methods for both composition and improvisation. He will write scores, record and perform with a range of collaborators including Jemma Desai, Samra Mayanja, Abi Asisa, Oscar Taylor and students from Harris Girls’ Academy East Dulwich. Upon venturing in, you may find felix in any corner of the gallery writing, playing, rehearsing or listening in ways that are open for us to listen, to join.

In this world, musicians like the ones who join @eternalserieslondon programme, bring a certain sense of direction, at least for me, and I hope for the audience as well.

Intricate and adventurous, these artists will share their work very soon at Eternal September and Eternal November. And it is truly exciting!

24th September, @raleighchapel
6th November, @swisschurchlondon

Please follow the link in @eternalserieslondon bio to read about the events in detail, make plans and get your tickets in advance.

V honoured & happy to share that my new short film ‘An unimaginable leap’ (2026) will have its world premiere at BFI @londonfilmfestival on Thurs 15 October, @icalondon 8.30pm in the Tracing Islands program 💫💫💫 Huge thank you to the programmers Hyun Jin Cho, Qila Gill & Erik Martinson

The film takes Takyi’s Rebellion in Jamaica, 1760 as a starting point to look at refusal through illumination and form alongside bauxite mining, diasporic celebration and grief across time. I see it as the second part of two films concentrating on the relationship between Jamaica and the UK ❤️

Shout outs to wonderful talented people: producer @nuriaenpersona sound design & composition @__felixtaylor creative & editing consultancy @jenniferlauren_martin grade @jasonrmoffatcolour posters & graphics @caballe.fosch a guest appearance by james jordan johnson & many more including family members in both JA & the UK

Public funding from @aceagrams & @theelephanttrust w some footage shot during the production of a river which was produced and commissioned by @filmvidumbrella & @touchstones_rochdale

I hope some of you like being in the dark 💎

For our London folks: the Material Crimes Listening Station at Whitechapel Gallery's Backyard Biennial East is still on - but only for one more week!

Make sure you go visit before the Biennial ends on 6th September.

And stay tuned for our new home (we’ll be transporting the listening station to new digs - location will be unveiled soon).
