I can’t believe it’s not butter… it’s ice cream. 🍦🍜

Yes, I really dropped a scoop of ice cream into my ramen and with the help of my girl @blackgirlandnoods (a true ramen expert), I finally understood the hype.

We pulled up to @ramyun.gallery.atl in Duluth, GA where you customize your own bowl, steam it fresh on the spot, and vibe out like you just stepped into Tokyo.

The ice cream? 🍦 It’s a viral hack that cools down the spice and gives it this buttery, creamy finish. Sounds wild but trust me, it works.🔥

From the ramen wall to the anime drinks to my daughter Zen slurping noodles like a pro, this spot was a whole experience. Not your average noodle night.

Pinch me—because this really is my life!!
I get in the car and drive across state lines just to be in the presence of God. That’s how hungry I am for Him. I’ll go wherever He goes, no matter the distance. My Friday nights aren’t for soaking in dark places—they’re for soaking in His presence, chasing after the light, and lifting up the name of JESUS.

The fire in my spirit is real. My life is full. My heart is burning for more of Him.
Jesus, You’ve completely wrecked me in the best way. You’ve flipped my world upside down and given me something far better in return—joy, peace, purpose, and a love that never fails. Thank You for this wild, beautiful, Spirit-led life.

And can we talk about community for a second?? Big shoutout to my sisters who said YES without hesitation. No questions asked—just hearts aligned and ready to worship. I’m so grateful I don’t have to walk this journey alone.

📍Yakitori Jinbei, Smyrna, GA

@yakitorijinbei used to be my go-to spot after I discovered it on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives back in 2020. I’ve hyped it up to friends and family for years, but this visit… whew. Let’s just say, it wasn’t giving what it used to.

The fried rice tasted old, the Tonkotsu Ramen was straight-up flavorless 😩—but that Korean Fried Chicken? BUSTING! 🔥

Overall, I’m giving this visit a 6.5/10 because I know they can do better. Also, the customer service? Mid. How you telling another party I’ll be done in 10 mins when me and my child just got our food?? But don’t worry—I took my sweet time. 😌

Before noodles became a soulful part of my story, they were a bridge to comfort, connection and community ❤️🍜

Pictures in order:

1. My first day of 8th grade, a month after we moved to Okinawa. I was nervous and a little lost, but I made my first impression by “jerking” on the lunch tables 😂💃🏾

2. This is from our first adventure to explore Oki. The warmth and acceptance from our Okinawan neighbors gave me a sense of belonging I’ll forever cherish.

3&4. This was our “big yellow house”. It was a Japanese American house, featuring the best of both worlds and comforts. On the other hand , the tiny roads felt like a maze! This was home and community and we loved every minute of it.

5. This was my backyard- Sea Wall, the ocean. The sound of the waves and the smell of the water still brings me joy. I spent hours out there- local festivals, meeting boys (😂), or thinking about the future. It was my safe place.

In Okinawa, noodles weren’t just food, they were love. Whether it was ramen, soba or udon, every bowl 🍜 made me feel connected to my new community. And when I moved back to the States, I carried that love with me.

Black Girl and Noods is my way of sharing this love- comfort, culture, and noodles- one bowl at a time.

Welcome to @blackgirlandnoods where the Black experience meets Noodle Culture 🍜🖤.

Growing up in Hinesville, GA (912), I was a country girl at heart- fishing, muddin, and living a quiet, country life. But in 2009 the military took us to Okinawa 🇯🇵 and that experience opened up a whole new world of flavors and comfort ✨

When we moved back to the States 🇺🇸, I looked for same flavors and experience I had in Oki, but couldn’t find it in South GA. Once I moved to Atlanta to pursue my masters degree, I made it my mission to find a piece of my second home 🍜🇯🇵

To my friends in Atlanta, I become the go-to for noodle spots and it became my mission to introduce my friends to their first bowl of noodles- hints Black Girl and Noods was born.

Now, I want to share that same love with yall- my noodle cousins of the interwebs 🫶🏾🍜. Tune in every Monday, Wednesday and Friday to see how we make noodles relatable, soulful and full of joy 💃🏾🍜.
