Oggi beabookaholic compie due anni e io ancora fatico a crederci🎂✨

In questi due anni la mia vita ha preso mille pieghe diverse: prima l’università, poi l’America e infine il ritorno in Italia. E anche io sono cambiata tanto.

Ciò che non è mai cambiato, invece, è la passione per la lettura, che da sempre mi accompagna.

Durante quest’ultimo anno ho vissuto esperienze straordinarie che non dimenticherò mai. Ho avuto la possibilità di collaborare con autrici diverse, conoscere storie e personaggi nuovi e, finalmente, sto per coronare un sogno: pubblicare il mio diario di lettura.

Sono infinitamente grata per tutto questo. Per le persone splendide che ho conosciuto in questi due anni e per la community che ho costruito, che mi supporta e apprezza ciò che faccio.

Beabookaholic mi dà tantissimo ogni giorno e io non posso che esserne profondamente grata.

Grazie a tutti voi per il supporto continuo. Senza di voi, tutto questo non esisterebbe🩷📖

May moments

Loved making the april wrap up, but currently fighting a cold so have absolutely no energy to make one for this month😩
Been catching up with some friends, and trying to make the best of the sunny weather as long as it lasts.

I still haven’t finished wuthering heights, I’m about a 100 pages in and would love to finish it today but it seems unlikely. Also still reading east of eden, and soon done with an arc for the book ”the knowing witch”. I’m at 47/100 of my reading goal, and hoping to make a post about my 50 first reads of this year once I reach 50.

I only have 1 exam left and finish uni for this semester next thursday!!! Hoping to read so much on my summer break!!😩🥹 Feels like I’m missing so much on here, hoping to be super active during summer.

La storia di Nica inizia all’orfanotrofio soprannominato Grave, un luogo cupo e buio, in cui si sente sola e abbandonata, dopo la morte improvvisa dei genitori. All’interno dell’orfanotrofio non ci sono favole della buona notte, ma solo storie tetre come quella del fabbricante di lacrime: un artigiano che penetrava l’anima delle persone, plasmando paure ed angosce e confezionando lacrime di cristallo. Nica identifica il fabbricante di lacrime in Rigel, un orfano come lei. Ma i due non potrebbero essere più diversi. Il sole e la notte, la luce e l’oscurità. Lei è solare, gentile, si prende cura degli animali a discapito di ferite varie. A Rigel invece, abbandonato da neonato, spettano tutte le attenzioni dell’istitutrice del Grave, che cerca in tutti i modi di farlo sentire amato. Rigel suona il pianoforte, una via di fuga dalla rabbia e lo squallore dell’orfanotrofio. Proprio grazie alla musica trova serenità e riesce a incantare tutti. Infatti, quando ormai diciasettenne Nica viene adottata dai Milligan, il talento di Rigel col pianoforte attirerà l’attenzione dei suoi nuovi genitori, poichè la passione di Rigel per la musica gli ricorda il figlio Alan. Fuori dal Grave, Nica imparerà il valore dell’amicizia grazie a Billi e Miki. Rigel, invece, dovrà imparare a calare la maschera da duro che si è costruito per difendersi. Ma presto i momenti bui trascorsi al Grave riaffioreranno nei loro ricordi e nella loro quotidianità e i due riusciranno a farsi forza solo stando insieme.
Il libro tratta tematiche importanti, come malattie e violenza sui minori e l’importanza di denunciare, tuttavia credo anche che rimanga ancora troppo ancorato a vecchi stereotipi dei young adult. Ciò che viene presentato è in gran parte un romance che segue il trope enemies to lovers, ma utilizzando sempre i soliti cliché. Abbiamo un ragazzo problematico, violento, scontroso (senza motivo apparente), il classico bad boy. Dall’altro lato abbiamo la ragazza timida e solitaria, senza spessore ne personalità che rivestendo i panni della crocerossina lo salva. Non avevamo superato la fase Tre metri sopra il cielo?!
