Pride month was HOT-TO-GO🌈 with:

So many birthdays, a wedding, frequent bouldering @appalachianboulderingcenter , leisure time at local breweries, working from coffee shops, quitting one job, and accepting a job offer for another!

Not to be homophobic… but June was exhausting & draining and I’m looking forward to July😇

Today we have an image of the Creeping Jenny growing back outside of @lauren_maes and her roommate @mccayleslie’s house and a poem from Wendell Berry! McCay works at Hopwood Christian Church and attends Emmanuel, she has visited our congregation several times. She provides this insight: “A small group of friends and I get together for prayer a few times a week using the Book of Common Prayer. I was the reader for our virtual morning prayer today. The readings were from Isaiah & Luke. I was so confused. Then I remembered… it’s the Feast of the Annunciation! A glimmer of hope in the midst of Lent. Yes! Joy! Hope! Christ is coming! This is the day the Church celebrates the angel Gabriel telling Mary of the coming Christ. Mary responds “Here am I, the servant of the Lord; let it be with me according to your word.” - - -
My aunt always had this beautiful lime green vine in her front flower bed called Creeping Jenny. That lime green color is my favorite! After a dead, cold winter, this happy little color comes back to us with an announcement, "Greetings, favored one! The Lord is with you.” - - -
I kid you not, I was talking on the phone to my aunt later this morning, telling her about the joy this feast day brings me when I noticed my Creeping Jenny came back! It’s Spring! Life is coming just around the corner! - - -
This lime green of Spring represents for me Spring after Winter, life after death, the hope of Christ coming to find us. May Christ restore to you the joy of your salvation this day. Get outside! Nothing reminds us of hope quite like Springtime, and deserts are starting to bloom! Whether it is a few barefooted moments in the lawn outside your apartment complex or a family walk around the neighborhood, getting fresh air is crucial in the fight against stress. Spring helps us to remember that new life is coming and hope is still here. Find your hope on the ground under your feet. Let it be.” An image of a bright green creeping Jenny growing back after winter in a terra-cotta pot.

#tbt First wedding I ever performed, @erinallsop and @erikallsop in Chillicothe, OH - all these people drove from Georgia to attend the wedding, I’m to the far right in the suit coat! (unsure of the year, maybe 2003?)
