2025.

the year that somehow felt like both the longest and the shortest year of my entire life.

the year i’ll never forget.

the year of so many firsts, and just as many lasts.

the year my softball career ended, the sport i played for 16 years came to a close.
the year i experienced grief in a way i never had before.
the year i both found myself and completely lost myself.
the year i discovered how much joy i find in giving back, by testing the waters of being a coach.
the year i learned that i actually… enjoy school?

the year that was filled with experiences, both good and bad.

i helped coach a catching camp.
i learned that i really enjoy running.
i finished my last semester on the deans list.
i traveled all over the east coast thanks to softball.
i got beat up a couple times (ball to the collarbone, and the ribs lol).
i finished my career with one of the highest batting averages i’ve ever had, and the highest on the team (which is a big deal for someone who took 16 years to figure out what works for her LOL).
i built multiple snowmen (also a big deal when you grow up in vegas).

i learned the importance of connection.

if you know me, you know i’m anti human beings.
but this year i forced myself to be uncomfortable.
i learned how to do things alone, but i also made new friends.
i realized it’s okay to fall out with old friends, because sometimes that’s just growth.
i learned that real connection doesn’t just happen, it takes genuine effort to keep it.
i learned the importance of showing up for the people who matter, even when it may be hard for me.

i also learned the importance of putting myself first.

that’s harder than it sounds, especially when you’re constantly putting yourself in uncomfortable situations in an attempt to grow, because sometimes growth and survival feel like they contradict each other.
i learned that setting boundaries doesn’t make you a bad person.
i learned that doing what’s best for you might upset other people, and that has to be okay.
