Congratulations to @hannah.hoebeke 2025 recipient of theCOLAB/RCA/YSP award on the occasion of her first public sculpture commission: Women of the Cabmen’s Shelter, realised during her 9-month residency at The Artist’s Hut within The Artist’s Garden. During the residency, Hoebeke sculpted portraits of the women Black Cab Drivers that frequent the nearby Cabmen’s Shelter; they are a vastly overlooked portion of the taxi community, accounting for only 2-3% of all black cab drivers. We were delighted that Cab Driver Dale Forwood joined us for the unveiling and spoke beautifully about how proud she was to see herself and her colleagues represented in public space. Thank you to everyone else who joined us for the opening celebration, including our wonderful speakers @alexjhodby @_sarah__staton_ and Nicola Lines who joined Hoebeke in conversation, chaired by founder and director of theCOLAB Claire Mander. Hannah Hoebeke’s sculpture will remain on display in The Artist’s Garden, free for all and open every day from 8 am until dusk. Congratulations Hannah! #contemporarysculpture #contemporaryart #publicart #london #fineart @yspsculpture @wspukandi @rcasculpture @daleforwood

I finally graduated from MA Sculpture @rcasculpture.⁣ at the Royal College of Art. An utterly life changing year passed by so quickly. It’s sad to see it end, but my heart feels so full.⁣⁣  ⁣⁣  Community has played such an important role in my life and practice this year. I don’t believe good art is made in isolation, and I feel very lucky to have been surrounded by people as caring, brilliant and generous as those I met here.⁣⁣  ⁣⁣  A huge thank you to my friends, my tutors, and everyone near and far who supported me through it. You made it what it was for me.⁣⁣  ⁣⁣  @royalcollegeofart
