“Your voice has the power to make a difference.” Abby Werthmann, an epilepsy advocate from Maine, shares why teens living with epilepsy should apply for EFNE’s Teen Advocacy Program this October. This no-cost weekend brings teens from MA, RI, NH, ME, and VT together to build confidence, learn how advocacy works, connect with others who understand, and discover how their voice can help create change in their school, community, state, and beyond. No advocacy experience is needed. Meals, lodging, and materials are included at no cost for each teen and one parent or guardian. October 2–4, 2026 Sturbridge, MA Self-nominate today. Spots are limited. Link in bio! #EpilepsyAwareness #Epilepsy #TeenAdvocacy #MakeEpilepsyHistory #EpilepsyFoundationNewEngland

We don’t get nearly enough of this. 🖤 A few days at a time, squeezed between life’s craziness and different zip codes… yet each visit @_abbywerthmann & I seem to pick up exactly where we left off. My sister is, without question, the strongest person I know and one of the biggest pieces of my heart. So grateful for the laughter, the talks, and the special time together. Love you, sis! 🤍 #sisters #family #mainesqueeze #loveyou #instagood

You won’t see me on @cbscolorado for awhile, and this beautiful girl is the reason why. 💜 Abby is my absolutely incredible & brave 16-year-old sister, and she’s having brain surgery tomorrow. She has severe drug-resistant epilepsy and suffers dozens of seizures 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮 𝙙𝙖𝙮. It’s a debilitating disorder, to say the least. Yet even on her toughest days, @_abbywerthmann is dedicated to raising epilepsy awareness. She mentors younger kids in her community who have epilepsy, is actively involved with the @epilepsyfdn, and is currently working with one of her state lawmakers on Seizure Safe Schools legislation. Abby even advocated on Capitol Hill earlier this year for more funding for epilepsy programs & research. I told you my sister is incredible -- she’s an epilepsy warrior!! 🫶🏻 Over the weekend, Abby took a big step toward the day she’s long been waiting for — she shaved her head in preparation for brain surgery. Isn’t she still so beautiful?! 😍 Our family is hopeful it’ll give Abby much-needed relief and prevent the frequent seizures, allowing her to be a “normal teen.” Needless to say, I’m proud of my extraordinary sister — and I’m glad I can be with our family during this important albeit nerve racking time. With that said, I’m hoping you will help me in a big show of support for Abby. Purple is the color for epilepsy awareness, and it happens to be her favorite color. So tomorrow, on the day of her surgery, 𝒍𝒆𝒕’𝒔 𝒘𝒆𝒂𝒓 𝒑𝒖𝒓𝒑𝒍𝒆 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝑨𝒃𝒃𝒚! 💜💜💜 If you do, please send me a photo so I can show Abby when she’s home from the hospital that she has people coast-to-coast rallying for her recovery & shining a light on epilepsy awareness! 💜✨ And, for those who can give, please consider donating to the Epilepsy Foundation. The work they do is critical to epilepsy warriors like Abby and their families 🫶🏻 (link in bio) THANK YOU!!! 💜🙏🏼 #epilepsyawareness #shesmyhero #epilepsywarrior #sisters #familyfirst #wearpurpleforabby #proudsister #makeepilepsyhistory #advocate #yougotthis #brainsurgery #instalove
