Loved having local powerhouse business duo (and real life couple💍) @nadiajaftha and @_reecemeyer back in studio on #weekendbreakfastwithsjk on @capetalkza recently.

These two are doing some pretty impressive things with their creative agency Acelabs, particularly when it comes to TikTok, content creation and connecting brands with creators.

I asked Nadia what she’s most proud of since starting the business and then, because I can’t help myself, things got a little personal. 😛

I’ve interviewed Nadia a few times over the years and I told her that every time I see her, she seems happier than the last. So I had to ask whether that had anything to do with Reece...😉

• Identify the 415 to 455nm hazard band and apply IEC 62471 risk groups
• Rethink what “bright” really means (circadian, scotopic, melanopic)
• Specify lighting for occupant health, safety, and welfare

Biophilic design is only as good as the materials that actually make it onto the job site. 🌿💻

Week 2 of our Partner Highlight series features @_acelab, the platform making it seamless for architects and designers to research, compare, and specify healthy building products.

Rather than spending hours digging through disjointed PDF spec sheets, Acelab gives design teams a centralized workspace to verify material transparency, low-VOC finishes, and sustainable certifications instantly.

✨ The Impact:

🔍 Faster material research.

🍃 Verified material health data.

🛠️ Specs that protect biophilic choices from value-engineering.

That’s a wrap on AEC INNOVATE ‘26! 🌟

Our time in Las Vegas last week brought together the industry’s sharpest dealmakers and most innovative minds in AEC. We had some amazing speakers and presenters discussing everything from AI-powered design and project management to smarter business development and operations.

Attendees have already said they now have practical, actionable strategies they can implement immediately to drive innovation and performance at their firms!

Thank you to our education team for flawless execution, our sponsors for making this possible, and every speaker and exhibitor who brought their A-game.

The strategies and partnerships formed here will echo through the industry for years to come.

Next year, we will be in Denver from June 2-4, 2027! Will you be there?

"How do you know them?"

"... I actually think we met on the internet!" 😂

Here's a quick photo dump of all of the amazing people (and a few places) that I encountered during my quick visit to San Diego for #AIA26.

I could have never dreamed that a podcast (of all things) has connected me to so many fantastic people in the industry. And shoutout to former colleagues and classmates that I ran into as well.

Thank you all for supporting @architectette , thank you for inspiring me, and thank you for helping to make your corner of the world a better place.

As #AIA26 workshop leaders, our role is to spark conversations, share experiences, and then hand the mic to the room.

Bright and early this past Saturday, Annie Bevan, Andre Baros, Lena Reiff AIA, EDAC, and I facilitated a workshop on AI, sustainability, and material selection.

Annie shared procedural and documentation challenges regarding the selection of mindful materials.

Lena discussed how emerging tools help her team make more informed decisions while still maintaining profitability.

One example of those tools was Acelab | Material Hub, a platform that centralizes material information, sustainability data, certifications, and technical documentation.

Andre shared how his team at Acelab is leveraging AI so that users can quickly compare products, evaluate sustainable performance criteria, and make more confident material selections.

While technology continues to evolve, our greatest resource remains the knowledge we learn from one another.

I was grateful to facilitate this conversation with 70+ participants, weaving together insights from our panelists and the thoughtful experiences shared by attendees. Balancing multiple perspectives in real time, finding common threads, and creating space for audience contributions made for a rich discussion and a reminder that some of the best learning happens when we learn from each other.

Thanks for attending our session!
