🏁Fast Cars Slow Burn🏁

Checkered Hearts combines two things I really love, Formula 1 racing and romance.

Thanks to Hambright PR and the author, I was able to receive and review the audiobook, narrated by the amazing Anthony Palmini and Charlotte Claremont.

Rocco and Nico end up as teammates on the same F1 team. He is a little broody, and he is a lot condescending toward Nico being an inexperienced female driver in the sport. She is headstrong and under the cloud of her past, choosing to wear a mask of overconfidence rather than facing her fears.

The cars are fast, the burn is slow. . . But when they come together, Rocco and Nico are on fire! Can they endure the challenges of their relationship and the stressful F1 world?

Checkered Hearts is available now, and I highly recommend you grab your copy now!

I started this book reading it and this is one of those ones that I would highly recommend doing the audiobook for and this is the only reason why it’s four stars. Now it could have been my Kindle, but the formatting for some reason made it hard to follow.

With that being said, I love how they did actually tie in the female representation of motorsports. As somebody who does watch Formula One racing as well as other formula racing events the recognition is everything. It’s something that I noticed a bit extra as I have been rooting for my girls to make it to Formula One and reading this book kind of just gave me hope that one day it will happen soon.

Also, just talking about our past how we can grow from them but also how our past don’t define us. how we can change as a person and we can’t let our insecurities take control of . Seriously this is an amazing listen. Definitely something that I am recommending to my friends.

QOTD: do you listen to audiobooks or music in the car for a road trip?

Book Review
Checkered Hearts by A.G. Starling
Rating - 🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁

A high-energy sports romance set in the world of Formula 1, filled with rivalry, ambition, and plenty of tension.

Nico Angelini is about to make history as a female driver entering Formula 1, but the pressure on her is enormous. She has to prove she belongs in a sport where everyone is waiting for her to fail. Things become even more complicated when she ends up on the same team as Rocco Vittori, a driver she already has a difficult history with. Forced to work together while competing at the highest level creates sparks both on and off the track. 🏁

Nico is determined she fought for her place in the sport. She has to deal with far more scrutiny than her male counterparts, yet she never backs down.

I enjoyed watching both characters slowly lower their defences and see each other differently.

I really enjoyed the Formula 1 setting. It fits with the ongoing weekend races too.
The race scenes were exciting and I liked how the author balanced the technical side of the sport with the romance. The competition, media attention, team politics, and pressure to perform all added extra layers to the story. 🏎️

Things heat up both on and off the track in this enemies-to-lovers romance set in the high-octane world of Formula One racing.

Rocco Vittori is desperate for a win. With nearly as many pileups on the track as in his personal life, his formerly illustrious F1 career is in a total spinout. But a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be the lead driver on the new Maverick racing team could be the answer to all his problems. He’s willing to go full throttle every second of the day to prove he deserves it more than anyone. Unfortunately, someone else on the team has her sights set on the same job, and she’s determined to drive Rocco crazy.

After leveling up from Formula Three, Nico Angelini knows she’s got just one shot to show the world she’s as qualified as any man on the circuit. Being the only female driver in the highest class of international racing puts a target on her back, and the fact that she’ll be not only racing against but forced into comradery with her one-time online nemesis raises the stakes. An ongoing rivalry with a sexy, arrogant teammate is the sort of distraction she can’t afford.

Fueled by competition and an attraction that grows stronger with every lap, Rocco and Nico are off to a bumpy start. If they can’t get a grip on their emotions, they’re both going to crash and burn this season. But finding common ground could cause a different sort of spark to ignite, and their romance might prove too hot to handle . . .

a formula one romance except they’re not only both racers, but they’re also each other’s teammate?! you already know i ate this up!!!

it’s been a while since i last read a f1 romance and oh my gosh, i have missed them so much 😭

nico and rocco were the epitome of rivals to lovers; hating one another way before they even got paired together to drive for the same team. their heated banter combined with their forced proximity led to so many outrageous and laugh-out-loud moments. i loved seeing them ever so slowly (see also: reluctantly) open up to one another and become each other’s biggest support system by the end.

aside from them racing, there were also so many other fun moments and scenes that made me positively giddy!!! there was a masquerade ball, hilarious team radio moments, they were forced to to do a photoshoot together when they were RIPE with hatred, and she joined him in visiting his family while on their break… just to name a few highlights hehe

so, basically, if you love sports romance then you need to add this to your tbr!!

This was my first F1 Romance so going in I was really excited and ready to dive right in! I enjoyed the dynamic between Rocco and Nico and the back and forth between them.

The racing scenes were super fun to read and Nico is so inspiring! The writing flowed well between chapters and it was very easy to get addicted to this story.

This book also felt like I was going home as my family grew up going to F1 and NASCAR events. <3

I was also pleasantly surprised for the voice actors to be Anthony Palmini and Charlotte Claremont! Always love and adore their dedication and care to their work. I highly recommend this to all the racing and rivals to lovers fans!

❤️‍🔥 Thank you again to @_agstarling and @hambright_pr for sending me a copy to review! ❤️‍🔥

4/5 ⭐ Checkered Hearts by A.G. Starling

You might consider this book if you enjoy:
🏁 Racing
🏁 Sports romance
🏁 Enemies to lovers
🏁 Romantic comedy
🏁 Slow burn

Checkered Hearts is about two F1 racecar drivers who’s rival started while chatting online. Soon life brings them together in an unexpected twist and they must work together in order to get what they both want. The forced proximity leads them to spending a lot of time together and soon they are experiencing feelings that neither one was expecting. 🏎️

As a racing fan myself, I really enjoyed this book. It included interesting views and situations that actual drivers might experience during races and PR events. There was a lot of fun banter, but at times the conversation topics felt a little immature and didn’t really add to the story which is why I didn’t give it a full 5 stars. Overall, I’d highly recommend Checkered Hearts to my fellow race fans that enjoy a little romance. ♥️

Thank you to author @_agstarling and @hambright_pr for providing me with an ARC and ALC. I am leaving this review completely voluntarily and all thoughts are my own.
