We wanted to give a special shoutout to our Spring 2025 Ambassadors! These five individuals have dedicated a lot of time and effort to MexZona, and have been a huge help to us these last few months. You will see them helping us out at clinic, triage training, and other events this semester! Our five ambassadors are Rayan, Alejandra, Mclane, Yalitza, and Jaden.

Rayan Hamidouche graduated from the UofA last year yet still comes to MexZona in his gap year. “I joined MexZona because I wanted to help underserved populations and make an impact whether big or small. I fell in love with MexZona after my first clinic I’m very glad I have been able to have this opportunity.”

Alejandra Salazar is a junior majoring in Psychology and Spanish with a thematic minor. “I joined Mexzona last year, and right from the first clinic, I felt a strong connection with the community. It’s amazing to see real change, especially when patients return. It has been incredibly rewarding. It’s moments like those that keep me coming back.”

Mclane Baillie is a freshman double majoring in Biochemistry and Nutrition and Human Performance. “I joined MexZona to make a meaningful impact on an underserved community while gaining hands-on experience in the healthcare field.”

Yalitza Saavedra is a sophomore majoring in Physiology & Medical Sciences with an EMS minor. “I joined MexZona because I wanted to do more than just study medicine, I wanted to be out there, helping people. I love it because every clinic reminds me why I’m on this path, whether it’s translating for a patient or taking vitals, knowing I’m making a difference.”

Jaden Todd-Nelson is a senior majoring in Biochemistry and MCB. “I joined MexZona because I wanted to learn about what it means to provide healthcare in regions with limited access. I also wanted to contribute to an organization making a meaningful difference in the fight against health inequity. I have truly loved my time as a volunteer and as an ambassador. For me, each clinic is an opportunity to build connections with patients, providers, and fellow volunteers.”

November Clinic Recap 🏥

In the spirit of Thanksgiving, our hearts swell with thanks for each and every one of YOU!

As Nelson Mandela wisely stated, "We can shape the world and create a better place. It is in our hands to make a difference."

Thanks to YOUR incredible support, our nonprofit has experienced remarkable growth. Since the opening of our third clinic, the number of patients we've been able to assist is growing exponentially. This month's clinic marked a milestone – a record-breaking 245 patients served, the highest in MexZona's history!

Hats off to our amazing team of 40 dedicated volunteers, both undergraduates and graduates. Your commitment ensures that medical care reaches the Sonora community. Together, WE ARE THE CHANGE! A reminder that our TOY DRIVE is going on and we are receiving donations until December 1st! You can donate Toys and drop them off at COM-T or Venmo us @ MexZona!

October Clinic Recap 🏥

Hey there, Mexzona, we hope that you’re having the best time getting into the fall season 🎃 we just wanna extend our thank you again for everyone that volunteered with us and we encourage new volunteers every month! This past clinic was filled with familiar, new, and eager volunteers to help out the communities within Sonora, Mexico.

We hope you are all excited to start repping NEW Mexzona merch and we also want to say thank you to everyone who supports us and continues to through all our fundraising events!

September Clinic Recap 🏥

Well hello there Mexzona! If you didn’t see, this past weekend was our first clinic back for the semester and we had a great time! We did our first instagram takeover and it will be located under our highlights in case you missed our lovely Intern Bella Treasure answering questions and giving us the rundown of clinic.

Mexzona, along with our wonderful team of providers was able to treat around 200 patients at our three clinics. This is AMAZING and again, we have all of you to thank. We were also pleased to see so many new faces at our clinics and encourage you to sign up to join us if you have not already for the future!
