It's a bit of a secret, a window into my mind. A lot has changed in 12 months. This time last year, pre-show, I was nervous. I had an argument with a man in Sainsbury's but to be fair he was being a cock. I was on edge. Excited by all means, but I remember being full of fear.

A year on: Confidence up, tunes more, fear vanished.

I can't imagine being fearful of playing my music to a crowd. This now feels like my bread and butter, and I can't wait to hear how it sounds on the Last Arch system.

This week in the booth: @selenlogue

London-based, originally from Turkey. Her sound? Provoking. And deliberately so. That’s how she describes it herself: “Meant to provoke desire, anger, release, or tightness.”

She rarely plays purely happy music because she thinks we’re already too hooked on chasing happiness. Instead, she built what she calls “comfortable spaces for uncomfortable feelings.”

Her Rekordbox playlists are called things like ‘dark slap’ and ‘tension’. Her sets come with a warning: it might hurt.

She’s playing her first headline set this Friday at @hwklondon in Hackney Wick. Free, outside, from 6PM. Just go. And AM presents: Dancing Circles @_amevent
on June 26 with @_adela_music at the @thelastarch so
if you know, you know. And if you didn’t, now you do.

Also this week: @_jaketucker wrote about dancing in the rain at @thecauselondon for his birthday weekend and ended up writing something much better. About the difference between clubs where dancing is the point and clubs where it’s just an afterthought.

And @_mikew8 reported back from @balticweekender in Liverpool. £70 for two days (a bargain), underground music, local DJs and one stage that made the whole trip worth it.

This week’s mix is also Selen. In her own words: “unexpectedly experimental sounds. There is always a groove. It may or may not make you overthink a little.”
