POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Created this work “Dissent” during Narendra Modi’s rise to power. Mob lynchings, suicides because of caste discrimination and the divisive politics which are finally being challenged by the youth of India.

Once again there is a sense of hope and purpose as the @cockroach_janta_party70 and youth leaders like @neowsibora demand accountability from those in power who have clearly destroyed the essence of democracy.

India is rising…change will come.

What happens when sharing gives way to greed?

This piece explores balanced and imbalanced ecosystems, human consumption, and the consequences of taking more than we need. What begins with four bodies sharing a single resource in harmony slowly unravels as one dancer takes more and more, until the resources they fought to possess become a cage.

A reflection on community, power, and the destruction that can come from disrupting the balance.

15 years of Kun Faya Kun. 🤍✨
Revisiting this one through contemporary movement — still one of those songs that feels less like something you dance to and more like something you move through.

September, thank you for so many amazing memories with friends and family! For causes close to my heart. For community events and the generosity of spirit for all who contributed. For a wedding and a 50th Anniversary, birthday celebration, Janamashtmi, 75years of Chinmaya mission celebration and managing to visit my favorite Sankat Mochan. Was very special to meet long time friends, partners and for all the learning through each of these 💕🙏🏼

A little late to posting this, but there was no way I was letting this day get lost in the archives. 🤍

One of the most beautiful things about a wedding is getting to witness two people choose each other so wholeheartedly. And one of the rarest is getting to witness a love story that has had every reason to feel impossible, yet still persevered and found its way to this moment.

I can’t count how many times I had tears in my eyes during the reception, watching the room come together to shower them with so much love, joy, and blessings.

I still think about one of the first conversations Amit and I ever had, when the kind of love and future he has now felt like something he couldn’t quite imagine for himself. To watch him not only find that love, but fiercely pursue it and celebrate it so openly and beautifully in front of the people who love them most, is something I’ll never forget.

Love really does conquer all. And seeing that love celebrated so wholeheartedly by their family, friends, and community was incredibly special. I feel so lucky we got to witness it. 🤍

Now… let’s talk fashion!

I don’t get to dabble in Indian fashion nearly as much as I’d like to anymore, so whenever I get the chance to dig through my closet and pull out pieces I haven’t worn in years, I have a blast. I don’t have a huge Indian wardrobe in LA, which makes it challenging, but also pushes my creativity. There’s something so rewarding about taking what I have, modernizing it, and making it feel like me.

I love being Indian. I hope I get to be Indian in every lifetime. 🤎

And of course, one of my favorite parts is getting to style Danny, too. 😂 I love that he’s always so open to experimenting with Indian fashion and embracing it with me. And he wears it all so damn well.

A truly special day and one of my core memories from September. One for the books. 🥂

Congratulations again to the happy couple. 🤍 Thank you for letting us be a small part of such a beautiful celebration. We love you both!

“Khwab” at the South Asian Literature and Arts Festival 📚

This piece imagines a future where we can all live freely as ourselves. It is an excerpt from “Pehchaan”, a full length work that explores our diasporic identities.

We had an incredible time sharing this work with the SALA community!

Every city has brought its own energy, and San Francisco didn’t hold back.🫶🏾

We had the best time at our ✨Best of the Best✨Bollywood dance class, led by @amitdances. And then @amrynkhurana, who plays Sumi in the film, surprised everyone by joining in and dancing right alongside the class.🥹

Watching friends and OG dancers from the BOB era come together through dance has been one of the sweetest parts of this journey. San Francisco, thank you for showing up with so much heart.♥️
