Meet the team: Jo

Technically, Jo is stepping into Temptation.

But she’s definitely not new around here.

She’s done a stint on this team before. Then leaned all the way into Team Canada Premier, and came home from ICU with a silver medal around her neck.

So when we needed one more girl, the recruitment pitch was exactly eight words:

“Hey, we need a girl for this team.”

Jo: say less.

And she has absolutely thrown herself in.

A recent University of Guelph grad, Jo has been part of the PCT orbit for a while now, including membership in a very specific little club around here:

The Open Gym Gang.

You know the ones.

The people you see in the gym five days a week.

Sometimes more.

Not because someone told them to be there.

Because they genuinely, relentlessly want to get better.

One more rep.

One more skill.

One more tiny improvement that nobody else might notice.

Jo is that athlete.

She works.

Like, really really works.

She’s optimistic. She’s a natural leader. She lifts up the people around her. And she somehow manages to be ferociously committed to her own goals without making everything about herself.

As coaches, you meet a few people along the way where you just know.

You watch how they work.

How they treat people.

How they respond when something is hard.

How they keep showing up when nobody is making them.

And with every fibre of your coaching being, you think:

Yeah. That kid is going to be successful.

Not just in cheer.

In life.

That’s Jo.

And we’re pretty damn happy those eight words worked. Welcome back to Temptation Jo…you know what they say “one move changes everything”.

Eight days until our first Team Canada training camp of the season! 🇨🇦

I never thought I could love anything more than being an athlete representing my country, but getting the opportunity to coach within the National Team Training Program has been the greatest gift.

Every year this program gets a little stronger, the standard gets a little higher, and the athletes get a little better. I can’t wait to meet all of our new athletes, welcome everyone back, and get to work.

See you guys soon!

This post was a little delayed, but I wanted to take a moment to thank all my amazing teammates. It wasn’t the result we hoped for, but I’m beyond grateful for the memories and every person who made this dream team so incredible. The journey always means more than the outcome. A special appreciation to my stunt partner for making this adventure worth all the hard work and for always bringing so much joy along the way. I’ll always be grateful for this season.

We’ll be back stronger than ever. Shoutout to the maple leaf over everything. 🇨🇦
