EP 20 你係一個點樣嘅老豆?

嘉賓：精神科專科醫生Dr. Kenneth Wong & Coach Anthony @_anthonyko_

親子關係往往從母親角度講起。今次嘗試從父親角度探索下，父親角色包含什麼元素。

今集同嘉賓一齊傾吓，自己係一個點樣嘅老竇，同埋想做一個點樣嘅老竇。

Yesterday, Team Balancd™ spent the afternoon outdoors with students from Buddhist Yip Kei Nam Memorial College.

We led a Kung Fu experience class focused on strength, flexibility and coordination – giving everyone their own space to move, learn and have fun together.

It was great to see teachers joining in alongside the students, ending the school day with energy, movement and smiles. 😊

Tony is someone who believes that compassion and empathy are values that we all should have. Born and raised in Australia, he is a management consultant and a life coach by trade based out of Hong Kong. Tony’s a busy man! He loves nature, he loves boxing, he pursues self-development and spiritual practice, he loves being a father, a boxing coach, a mentor at The Shed (a hands-on, inquiry-based learning community for kids) and he’s a facilitator for the Hong Kong arm of EVRYMAN (An online men's community that empowers you to become self-led.)

In this episode, @_anthonyko_ and I talk about the male experience and mental health, varied experiences growing up in western cultures within an Asian upbringing, being human and more.

Hey Everyone! We hope you’re all having a great week so far! 😁

You may have noticed your workout sessions getting a little sweatier with this steamy weather! As long as your health is in check, training in warmer weather can actually help with improving your cardiovascular fitness and endurance, as well as with getting rid of all those nasty toxins in your body!

So if you feel up to the challenge, don’t let the heat put you off from getting your weekly workouts in! Just be sure to bring plenty of water, some lightweight clothes, and perhaps an extra T-shirt and mask to wear for your journey home!

Speaking of which, if you’re in need of a trendy new work-out T-shirt for these pre-summer training sessions, then these Basic Reflex T-shirts should do the trick! Comfortable, breathable, and incredibly tasteful, they’ll have you feeling fresh as a lettuce and cool as a cucumber throughout your workout.

We’ve already had a number of orders, so if you’re interested in getting yourself one of these beauties before they run out, please contact us through WhatsApp or email:

Stay safe, stay healthy, and hopefully see you all soon! 👊🏼👊🏼

Hey everyone! We hope you’re all having a lovely week so far ~ the weather has been absolutely incredible lately, so if you haven’t booked in for your next PT, get on it! There’s still space on Saturday morning for anyone hoping to work up a sweat before kickstarting their weekend ☀️☀️

Our next student spotlight is on the radiant Rahul! With an incredible amount of patience, focus and discipline, Rahul is able to reap every benefit that the sport of boxing has to offer. This allows him to grow and excel not only in the technical aspect of boxing, but also in all the various personal and physical elements associated with the sport (such as flexibility, agility, concentration, co-ordination, confidence, and many more!)

🥊 How long have you been training at BR?

I believe for between 7-8 months now.

🥊 Why did you chose boxing over other sports?

I tried all kinds of other forms of self-defense and combat sports and realised that for me boxing was as close to a self-defense method where could also push myself to grow and learn in other areas, while still remaining injury-free after each class.

🥊 Has anything surprised you about the training?

Yes. I witnessed some of the instructors in training a few years ago and while I was surprised at how multi-disciplinary the approach to training was, it still surprised me at how challenging that even some of the simple drills were to do correctly. I was also surprised at what the key aspects to being a good boxer was as preached to me repeatedly by the trainers - it wasn't close to what I expected, but it did make perfect sense.

🥊 Does it help you in any other aspect of your life?

Absolutely! My agility, lightness on my feet, power I can put down and reaction times while cycling, the ability to be quick while hiking and bouncy during other ball games, and general grounding I feel, especially while walking, I attribute to BR. Lastly, and most importantly, I feel much more relaxed in general.

Happy Friday everyone!

We’re definitely bummed about the ban on group classes, but we’re also looking forward to seeing some new faces trying our Personal Training (PT) sessions for the first time! If you’ve always wondered how PTs differ from group classes, now is your chance to give them a try at an incredible, limited-time discount!

Aside from the obvious fact that PTs are private, one-on-one classes, these sessions are designed to suit your specific skill set, fitness level, strengths, exercise preferences, and areas of improvement. If there is an area of boxing that you want to focus on, or that you find more difficult than the rest, feel free to share your thoughts with your trainer and they will do their best to accommodate! You might like to focus on your technique with more padwork, improve your agility and reflexes with drills, or just work up a good sweat with a cardio-heavy session - the sky’s the limit!

We’ve really appreciated everyone’s support throughout the past weeks of restrictions. We hope everyone stays safe & healthy, and we look forward to seeing you all in the coming weeks!
