Our wonderfully talented collaborator George Anthony Richardson (@_anthonyrich) is treading the boards of TheaterWorks Hartford (@twhartford) until March 2nd in a fantastic two-hander by Pulitzer Prize Finalist Rajiv Joseph: “King James.”

A delightfully funny and moving new play, “King James” explores how sports impact our lives by following twelve years in the lives of Matt and Shawn as their friendship grows in the common ground of a shared obsession with Lebron James, from the moment they meet to the end of Cleveland’s championship drought.

We saw it this weekend and had an absolute blast! The play itself is funny but has a message at its heart. It’s always such a gift to watch @_anthonyrich work. He’s one of those actors who is completely natural on stage - you never feel like he’s “performing” so much as simply being. You don’t want to miss this one!

Although Basketball is the backdrop of our next play, you don’t have to be a sports expert (or fan) to connect with King James!

From our Shawn, Anthony Richardson: “My way into the play was ultimately about the friendship. A lot of the play deals with how men view sports to connect with one another…that part of the play really attracted me.” (Anthony for Mass Appeal)

There’s something for everyone in this remarkably moving new comedy.

Had the absolute honor of attending the 30th Annual S. E. Manly African American Short Film Showcase, presented by the Black Hollywood Education and Resource Center at the Regal LA Live. I got to support my dear friend Fredericka Patricia Meek in her beautiful short, “Always”; a touching homage to a Black father from his beloved daughter on the day of his funeral.
Had the pleasure of meeting Eboni Price and George Anthony Richardson, who did some really great work with their respective shorts, “Hard” and “Inhuman Tethers”.
Also, ran into friends who were representing other films at the showcase. It was a great Saturday afternoon, indeed!
