THE BIG REVEAL… 🤭🎉

I’ve been holding in this secret from @_aslcooper for months now and thought it was fitting to share on his birthday. 🥳 Funny enough… I have multiple texts from Andrew since we first met where he’d always tell me how badly he wanted to run London. I always said, “ONE DAY.”

I’ll share more details on this opportunity further down the road, but the second it came up, I knew EXACTLY who I wanted to share it with. 🫶

@londonmarathon… a major marathon I thought was out of reach for both of us. HERE WE COME. 🇬🇧💂‍♀️

This training race today was a surreal experience. 💗 But before I share what happened… here’s the backstory:

Since 2022, I’ve ran this 12M NYC Marathon Training Series 5 years in a row. Truthfully, I don’t know why I always gravitated towards this race…

There are a couple of factors that make this race difficult:

1. It’s always in August, right in the middle of summer with unpredictable heat and humidity.

2. The course is 2 loops of Central Park. Yes, Harlem Hill 2x, Cat Hill 2x, and 3 Sisters 2x. AKA… this is not an easy course.

I had no pressure going into this race. I’m currently coaching myself for the NYC Marathon, and the goal was to be near / hold marathon pace.

🗣️: “Go easy on the hills, coast through the flatter areas… race starts after the second Harlem Hill.”

This being potentially my final 12M race, I had texted @_aslcooper prior saying how cool it would be to place top 5 in gender.

Around mile 4 or 5, I noticed the official cyclists in the distance watching me. As I was coming closer, she said a few words in her walkie-talkie and then started to pedal alongside me.

For a few meters, I was just watching her, wondering what was going on.

After a mile or so, she looks over at me and goes: “congratulations, right now you are first place female.”

😳🫢

The two emojis to describe my reaction. I looked around and behind me, still in disbelief. “Wait what?” All I could see were men… and no other female runners in sight.

You can imagine all the things that were going through my mind right then and there. In that moment, my heart rate picked up. I was shocked. After all, this was supposed to be a training race… nothing more.

After the first loop, she continued to stay alongside me, monitoring and shouting at those around me or in front to make way as I was coming through. (That was kinda cool)

This kept happening for the second loop around Central Park. As Cat Hill got closer, I was feeling exhausted. The sun was out, I was sweating a TON, and honestly… just wanted to stop. 🥵

She kept her distance and it actually motivated me to keep going. I started to visualize what it would be like to break the tape in a NYC race. And then I passed mile

How many more marathons do I have to run before someone wants to sponsor me? Featuring cool new friends made during @thesfmarathon weekend and being too cheap to pay for marathon photos🏃🏼‍♂️

I have never had MORE FUN in a marathon in my life, and I can’t imagine running with anyone else by my side or any more amazing crew. To think my first marathon I FOUGHT FOR a 3:59:55 in 2024, to run a 3:55:32 FUN RUN with double the elevation in 2026 makes me so emotional. grateful for the pals that got me here and PROUDE to be an ambassador for the most beautiful course ever! prepare to be annoyed by all the content for the next week 🌈🏳️‍⚧️🫶🏼
