BIDDEFORD, ME – A trio of former New Hampshire volleyball standouts have taken their talents north to Maine, where Lylah Shumway, Aubrey Young and Syd Fye are continuing their playing careers at the University of New England.

Shumway (Concord Christian Academy ’25), a sophomore, has taken over the starting libero duties for the Nor’easters and leads the team with 82 digs through five matches, averaging 4.32 per set. The Canterbury, N.H. native turned in one of her best performances of the season Tuesday night, recording a team-high 23 digs in UNE’s five-set loss to Bates.

Young (Oyster River ’26), a Barrington, N.H. native, has also seen plenty of action in the UNE back row. The freshman has collected 34 digs while serving as Shumway’s backup at libero.

Fye (Concord ’26) is a sophomore setter for the Nor’easters and is one of five setters on the UNE roster.

Tuesday night’s setback to Bates was the first loss of the season for UNE, which saw a two-set advantage slip away in a heartbreaking reverse sweep. The Nor’easters now sit at 4-1 and return to action Saturday when they take on Wellesley at 4 p.m.
