$When that bullet hit and I was laying on the ground, I didn’t know if I was gonna make it. My lung collapsed and every breath felt like it could be my last. In that moment, I honestly thought my life was over. Then I woke up. And when I opened my eyes in that hospital bed, I knew I was blessed to still be here. Even with a collapsed lung, a shattered clavicle, broken ribs, a fractured scapula, and a bullet still inside me… I was alive. The hospital stay wasn’t easy, but the love I received carried me through. The snacks, the gifts, the prayers, the messages… I’ll never forget it. I can’t thank the radiology department enough. I wouldn’t want to work with anyone else. And to my family, friends, and everyone who showed up for me, I love you forever. I’m one of the lucky ones. Too many people don’t get to wake up and tell their story. So I’ll use mine. Gun violence doesn’t just leave wounds on the body, it leaves marks on the soul. But I refuse to let this define me as broken. Instead, it defines me as alive, as resilient, as blessed. Every step I take forward is proof that faith, community, and love are stronger than any bullet.$
