"All the arguments I've won in the shower"

I've been working on this for the last 8 weeks and had no idea that I was subconsciously painting my way through a bunch of trauma from my previous life as a veterinary nurse.
I spent 8 years wearing scrubs this colour and haven't been able to wear this shade of blue since I dropped tools and had a nuclear meltdown 2.5 years ago.
Walking away from my career sent me into a deep depression and a complete loss of what my purpose was anymore.
My partner convinced me to start painting again to help get me out of the very dark hole I was in and it opened the floodgate to realizing that art has always been what I've done to get through hard times in life and that it makes me truly happy.
The process of practicing, experimenting and getting lost in creating art is the best way to ground myself and turn off the noises from the external pressures of simply being alive in this apocalyptic society.... except for when there's dog hair flying into my work every other second, the internal screaming promptly ensues.
With rent being one billion dollars a week, being a full time artist is probably a pipeline dream, but I thought I'd start chipping away at it by submitting my first piece into a competition.

This piece is about burning out and melting down... and coming back from it.

I wanted to give a well deserved shout out to vet nurses all around the animal world on International Vet Nurses Day.

I always pity the person who tries to ‘briefly’ describe what a vet nurse brings to a vet hospital. They’re the face that greets, the glue that holds it all together and the beating heart that pumps love, patience and compassion for animals from the clinic to the entire local community. And all with the backing of a sharp set of skills. They’re basically the Swiss Army knife of the veterinary world that you can safely leave around puppies and kittens. So while it should be every day, today’s International Vet Nurses Day is a chance for everyone (including those whose words we can’t quite understand 🐶 🐱 ) to say thank you. For the insight, the knowledge and the steady hand that holds those little paws to make sure everything is ok. You are appreciated.

Team appreciation time.
This photo was taken a year and a half ago, as you can see: there haven't been many changes. Except maybe hair colour!! We are missing our stalwart manager Neil and newest edition Dr Lara who has seamlessly integrated over the last 12 months.
We couldn't do it without each other. And we couldn't do it without you.
