I was honored to sit down with two of Kenya’s most influential women @ellathelawfluencer and @maggiehope_ to discuss an issue black women rarely talk about out loud which is skin bleaching. AABA in partnership with the University of Nairobi and Meru University of Science & Technology will be conducting research to better understand the effects whitewashing has on women’s health. Most skin whitening products contain highly toxic chemicals like mercury, corticosteroids and hydroquinone. Studies show the link to cancer, nervous system damage, immune disruption and renal failure to name a few. Our research will focus on the “under-researched” public health concerns at the intersection of dermatology, toxicology and socio-economic behavior. While significant attention has been focused on cosmetic formulation, limited empirical data exists on the long term “biological” and systemic health effects of exposure to unregulated skin bleaching agents. It’s now a billion dollar industry 😢 Join the AABA clean beauty movement: www.aababeauty.com Africa America Beauty Alliance #aaba #kenyacleanbeauty #cleanbeauty #roadtoafrica #backedbyscience

"THE VIRAL.SHADE" The official "The Sims" On X (Formerly Twitter) account recently went viral for "trolling" NBA player Klay Thompson following his high-profile breakup with rapper Megan Thee Stallion in reference to her "Hottie" branding and her recent public split from the Dallas Mavericks player. After Megan accused the Dallas Mavericks player of "cheating" and "mood swings," the official Sims account posted a GIF of a Sim in a basketball jersey standing in a burning kitchen with a red plumbob overhead, captioned: "If you can't handle a Hottie 🔥 stay out of the kitchen 😑". Megan's fans are rallying behind her. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 Beyoncé - "Irreplaceable" https://youtu.be/2EwViQxSJJQ?si=-O1X9squr6LssQby Photo shared by marvagreenwilliams on April 28, 2026 tagging @theestallion, @thesims, @klaythompson, @_berrys22, @melba1moore, @megantheestallionfanpage, @marvagreenwilliams, @megggfannn____, @theestallionsworld, @therealhtownhottie, @hottie_world_2.0, @hotgirlstallion, @megthestallionfan, @megthestallion_fanpage, @megthestallionfanpageofficial, @meg.stallion_, @meg_the_stallion_fanpage, @megan_the_stall, and @meqantheestallion. With February 28th considered by some the last day of Black History Month (even though we who know understand that Black History is 365 days a year; 24/7); I thought I might highlight the landmark case of Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka, Kansas; since many of you are from here , have family members who live here, or still live here (including myself). Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka, 347 U.S. 483 (1954), was a landmark decision by the U.S. Supreme Court, which ruled that U.S. state laws establishing racial segregation in public schools are unconstitutional, even if the segregated schools are otherwise equal in quality. The decision partially overruled the Court's 1896 decision Plessy v. Ferguson, which had held that racial segregation laws did not violate the U.S. Constitution as long as the facilities for each race were equal in quality, a doctrine that had come to be known as "separate but equal". The Court's decision in Brown paved the way for integration and was a major victory of the civil rights movement, and a model for many future impact litigation cases. Oliver Brown, a minister in his local Topeka, Kansas, community, challenged Kansas's school segregation laws in the Supreme Court. Mr. Brown's 8-year-old daughter, Linda, was a Black girl attending fifth grade in the public schools in Topeka when she was denied admission into a white elementary school. Thurgood Marshall won a series of court decisions that gradually struck down that doctrine, ultimately leading to Brown v. Board of Education, which he argued before the Supreme Court in 1952 and 1953, finally overturning “separate but equal” and acknowledging that segregation greatly diminished students' self-esteem. Today we honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his unwavering fight for justice, equality, and human dignity. Dr. King challenged this nation to confront injustice wherever it lives and reminded us that progress requires courage and action. His legacy is not confined to history, it lives on in our responsibility to keep pushing for what is right. #Be A King

HAPPY KWANZAA!!! Kwanzaa is celebrated from Dec 26 to Jan 1 by African-Americans. Kwanzaa was created by Ron Karenga in 1966, to provide the African-Americans with the opportunity to celebrate their heritage. In each of the 7 days of Kwanzaa, people celebrate a different principle of the Nguzo Saba (the seven principles of blackness): Umoja (unity), Kujichagulia (self-determination), Ujima (collective work and responsibility), Ujamaa (cooperative economics), Nia (purpose), Kuumba (creativity), and Imani (faith). These names are also answers for “Habri Gani?” each day. On the first day, the answer is “Umoja.” On the second day, the answer is “Kujichagulia,” and so on. Like the Christmas tradition, children get presents in Kwanzaa. The presents are supposed to include a book and a heritage symbol, to remind the children of their African origin. The Mishumaa Saba (seven candles) and Kinara (candle holder), which are placed on top of the mkeka (mat), make up the symbol of Kwanzaa. The Kinara is made of one black candle on the center, three red candles on the left, and three green candles on the right. These colors, which are also the colors of Kwanzaa, stand for the people, the struggle of the people, and the future and hope that comes from the struggle, respectively. Starting from the center black candle, which stands for Umoja (unity), each candle is lit on each day of the holiday from right to left. Luke 2:7 describes the birth of Jesus: Mary gave birth to her firstborn son, wrapped him in swaddling clothes (baby cloths), and placed him in a manger (animal feeding trough) because there was no room for them in the inn (or guest room). This verse highlights Jesus' humble beginnings, born in a stable; fulfilling prophetic ideas of the Messiah's humble arrival.
