What I didn’t expect was just how invaluable the experience would be. Not only do you get the rare opportunity to work one-on-one with an emerging director, but you also collaborate with six other talented directors in a single weekend, which is such a unique and creatively fulfilling experience. I’ve now done four LADL workshops, and thanks to the relationships I built in them, I’ve been cast by directors I met there five times (and counting!) outside of the Lab. It’s been an incredible boost to my career as an actor here in LA. There’s truly nothing like showing up on a professional set on a weekend, meeting amazing creatives, and making art together. We’re kicking off RomCom Workshop 3 through the @ladirectorslab with our first 3 directors! 🎬 Director @robertflowerstv Director @shayphox Director @cdproducshins Writers @katjaxson @tessa_lations @latinadirector Actors: @natalie.s.marceau @kamilqahar @kelsieactor @_brandoncab @emilysargeant5 @chris.lo.pez DPs: @trebetts @andressacor @fjuarezdp In this workshop, we brought in Intimacy Coordinators as many directors & actors have yet to work with one or even if they have, still are unclear about their responsibilities. We had our IC’s break down what their job really entails and all the ways they are there for the production, not just the actors. While we shot intimate scenes with the safety of IC’s on set, we all learned so much from them! Words can’t explain how grateful I am for the opportunity to practice my craft @ladirectorslab it was such a humbling experience. I literally walked into this experience the night before and very unprepared as a writer. Then being casted as an actor… than you for trust me with the role. (Which was a last minute choice, too) Thank you @latinadirector and @emmyloudiaz for your patience! I’m in awe of both your work ethics and it was such a treat to work with you and also shadow while we shoot our show! To the rest of the cast and crew. Bless all of you. My entry for the 2025 Shotdeck Recreation Contest “In Cold Blood” #Recreations2025 Always wanted an excuse to recreate the scene that I could never get over. I had to try 2 times to finally get the water drop projections onto my actor’s cheek. In the process, I discovered an ASC mag article with a quote from Mr Hall explaining that the projection is not from the rain drops, but actually from condensation on the window. That changed my whole plan and I went for reshoots that included steaming my window until it condensed and produced the projections. BIG THANKS TO: - @jpmourao and @mari_goulart_ + Bentinho for being my family and taking this challenge with me! JP posed for me and Mari helped me with everything, including steaming my window and taking BTS pics. Bentinho drew, played video games and played at the artificial rain - in this order. - @rayana and @ tomsphone for your generosity in letting me take your lights and stands. Thank you so much guys! - @_brandoncab for being such a lovely actor and coming down to shoot this and then not having his take picked up. THANK YOU for believing in this project! - @anneetheridge @abirdk @rayana @ioana13ster @craig_boydston and @thaiscastralli for walking me through this and pushing me to do my best! Invaluable advice from you guys. - And @womeninfilmla for connecting me to amazing mentors and peers who helped me so much! It is now submitted and posted. Let’s see what the judges say.
