On Saturday, I surprised Trinity with a well-deserved celebration. 🤍

When she graduated on May 9th, I didn’t have the words—or honestly, the mental capacity—to celebrate her the way I wanted to or even make a post. So now, let me give my girl her long overdue and VERY well-deserved congratulations!

My girl earned her Bachelor of Science in Health Science with honors and was accepted into Mercer University’s Doctor of Physical Therapy Program! 👏🏾

This Friday, I get to watch her receive her white coat, and YES… I will absolutely be dropping her off on her first day of class. 😂 Idc Idc

Trinity, you’ve always had a way of manifesting great things for yourself. I’ve watched you work, fight, pray, regroup, and keep going after the life you want. There have been setbacks, but you never allowed them to become your stopping point. And THAT is what makes me so incredibly proud of you.

You deserved to be celebrated the same way you are always so intentional about celebrating everyone else. Saturday was about making sure you knew just how proud we are of you and how BIG this moment really is.

Keep being great. Keep betting on yourself. Keep manifesting. Keep making me proud.

Congratulations, Trinity Milan, SPT! 🥼🩺🎓

I love you , my Turtle Burtle. 🐢

Her White Coat Era has officially begun.

When I first met Liyah, she was leading the walk, pulling on the leash, making decisions, and tuning out her handler.

Most people see leash pulling as an energy problem.

It’s usually a leadership and communication problem.

The dog at the end of the leash is constantly rehearsing being in charge—deciding where to go, what to investigate, and how fast the walk moves. The more they practice it, the stronger the habit becomes.

Today, Liyah is heading home in a calm, structured heel. Not because she’s tired, but because she understands her job.

A good heel isn’t about looking impressive. It’s about engagement, trust, and teaching a dog that they don’t have to make every decision themselves.

When the relationship becomes clear, the leash gets loose.

Less pulling.
More listening.
More freedom.

That’s the power of structure.

Dogs everywhere. People passing. Bikes, scooters, noises, smells, and constant movement.
The environment is doing everything it can to pull Liyah away.
Yet she stays locked in.
Real obedience isn’t measured when conditions are perfect. It’s measured when your dog has every reason to disconnect and chooses not to.
Anybody can get a dog to listen in a quiet backyard.
The standard is whether they can stay focused when the world is competing for their attention.
Because the goal was never to teach a heel.
The goal was to build a relationship strong enough that she chooses me over everything else arou

One of the most overlooked parts of puppy training is grooming preparation.

Many owners wait until their dog needs a professional groom before introducing them to water, dryers, elevated surfaces, restraint, and being handled by strangers. By then, the experience can be stressful and overwhelming.

That’s why I’m taking Liyah to the dog wash while she’s still young.

This isn’t about getting her clean it’s about creating positive associations with the grooming process before she actually needs it. Every calm exposure helps build confidence and teaches her that new environments aren’t something to fear.

Early grooming exposure can help:
✔️ Reduce anxiety during grooming appointments
✔️ Improve cooperation during handling
✔️ Make nail trims, baths, and blow-drying easier
✔️ Create a safer experience for both the dog and groomer
✔️ Build overall confidence in unfamiliar environments

Remember: Socialization isn’t just meeting people and dogs. It’s exposing your puppy to the everyday experiences they’ll encounter throughout life.

Most dogs know commands.

The real question is: can they follow those commands when something more exciting is happening?

In this video, Liyah is holding a down while I work Draco on leash training. She’s not being constantly reminded, corrected, or entertained. She’s simply expected to maintain the command until released.

Then I call her from the down into heel, work her through obedience, and send her right back into the down.

Why does this matter?

Because real life is full of distractions:• People walking by• Other dogs• Kids running around• Visitors at your house• Trips to parks, stores, and public places

If your dog only listens when they’re the center of attention, they don’t truly understand the command yet.

Training isn’t about teaching a dog to sit, down, or heel. It’s about teaching them how to remain calm, accountable, and responsive regardless of what’s happening around them.

That’s how you build reliability. That’s how you create freedom. And that’s how you end up with a dog you can confidently take anywhere.

A well-trained dog isn’t the dog that can perform a command once it’s the dog that can perform it consistently under distraction.

ah is here for a 2-week board & train, and this is a perfect example of what happens when dogs live with little structure, unclear boundaries, and inconsistent follow-through.

At drop-off, she was highly stimulated, impulsive, disconnected on leash, and constantly making decisions for herself. Now we’re slowing the brain down, building engagement, reinforcing obedience, and teaching her how to exist calmly around pressure and distractions.

One thing most owners misunderstand:
A tired dog is NOT the same as a trained dog.

Running your dog for hours without structure often creates a dog with more stamina not better behavior. Real obedience comes from accountability, repetition, leash communication, and teaching the dog how to regulate their state of mind.

Training is less about commands…
and more about mindset.

The goal is a dog that can:
• Stay neutral around distractions
• Follow through under pressure
• Understand boundaries
• Relax instead of constantly reacting
• Look to the handler for direction

This is only week one with Liyah. The transformation is still loading. 🔥

That’s where most dogs struggle.

A dog that can sit in your living room isn’t automatically obedient.
Can they hold position while:
✔️ Another dog is sprinting?
✔️ A ball is being thrown?
✔️ Excitement levels go up?
✔️ Movement and pressure are happening around them?

That’s the difference between a trained dog and a situationally obedient dog.

Impulse control teaches dogs:
• Patience
• Emotional regulation
• Decision making under pressure
• How to stay mentally connected to the handler instead of the environment

This type of training creates calmer dogs in public, better off-leash reliability, and fewer reactive behaviors over time. 💯

The goal isn’t to shut the dog down.
The goal is teaching the dog how to think through excitement instead of instantly reacting to it.

Would your dog hold that down-stay… or break the second the ball gets thrown?
