Not enough rage for the cage

This kid... since he was a baby, baseball has been his life. Countless hours of catch with his dad, endless practices, and a focus on the game that's always impressed me. Talent can open doors, but it's his drive that's carried him through them.

This is a favorite painting of mine now. Not because I nailed painting it😎, but because it represents years of dedication, sacrifice, and the people who helped along the way.

Congratulations on the full ride, Pookie. I can't wait to see where this game takes you next. ⚾️

If you'd like me to turn an athlete's story into a custom painting, send me a message.

6A Baseball State Champions - Owyhee Storm 🌪️

Owyhee takes down Eagle 9-4 on Saturday afternoon to win the program’s 4th State Championship in 5 years 🏆🏆🏆🏆

This game was worthy of a championship. The two undisputed best teams in the state battled for 7 innings, and the game had pretty much everything. A fan ejection, a home run, clutch hits, and some questionable calls made for a great game with plenty of drama.

Owyhee jumped out to an early 6-0 lead through 3 innings thanks to hits from Nathan Keith, Shelby Pease, and Jack Booth paired with a couple of Eagle errors.

A Kristian Fusco 2-run home run and an Easton Gothberg 2-run double put the Mustangs right back in this one. Owyhee was up 8-4 in the 5th, and Eagle had the bases loaded with only 1 out in the inning. But Nathan Keith, aka The Boogeyman, came in and got the Storm out of the jam. In all of my Owyhee games covered this season, I never saw Keith give up a single run when on the mound ☠️⚰️🪦

The Storm added an insurance run in the 6th, then Keith closed out the game. Owyhee caps off an undefeated State Regional/Championship Series run with a 4th State Title in 5 years. To go along with their back-to-back district championships of course. In their State run, the Storm outscored their five opponents 44-12 😳

✅Thunder Ridge 11-1
✅Rigby 6-1
✅Middleton 5-3
✅Mountain View 13-3
✅Eagle 9-4

🌪️Keith 2.2 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 1 K; 2-for-3, 2 2Bs, RBI, 2 R 🥵
🌪️Pease 2-for-3, 3 RBI, R
🌪️Booth 2-for-3, RBI
🐎Fusco 1-for-1, HR, 2 RBI, 2 BB, R
🐎Gothberg 1-for-3, 2B, 2 RBI
🐎Bowers 5.1 IP, 6 H, 1 ER, 4 K

Owyhee finishes the season with a 27-5 record, the District Title, and the State Title. 💍🏆

🐎 CHAMPIONSHIP BOUND 🐎

Eagle beats Mountain View 5-1 on Friday night to send the Mustangs to the 6A State Championship Game(s) against top seed Owyhee!

The Mustangs jumped out to an early lead and scored all of their runs in the first inning. A couple of base hits paired with 2 Mountain View errors gave Eagle starter Jacob Ames all the run support he’d need.

Ames was dominant on the mound. He went the distance for the Mustangs, allowing only 1 run and striking out 7 in the complete game W. Kristian Fusco and Brayden Lame both finished with 2 RBIs on the night.

Eagle eliminates Middleton (10-0 in Game 3) and Mountain View (5-1 Game 5) on Friday to advance to face top seed Owyhee for the State Championship on Saturday afternoon! But because Eagle went through the elimination bracket, they’ll have to beat Owyhee twice on Saturday to be crowned champs. Owyhee only needs to win once for the 🏆🍿👀

🐎Ames 7 IP, 1 ER, 7 K
🐎Zawadzki 3-for-4, R
🐎Egan 2-for-4, R
🐮Flournoy 6 IP, 3 ER, K
🐮Schneidt 2-for-4, 3B, R
