One woman. 82 days. 2,000 miles. And a journey that would become something far greater than anyone could have imagined.

Meet Ann Rose, an off-grid Appalachian farmer who sets out from her backyard creek with a paddle, a purpose, and a determination to follow the water all the way to the Gulf.

But some journeys have a way of becoming bigger than ourselves.

What began as a mission to raise awareness for our waterways would take unexpected turns, testing the very meaning of resilience, community, and what it means to show up when it matters most.

Stories have always been—and will always be—my favorite form of human connection. Watching everyone laugh, feel, reflect, and connect with Ann’s beautiful journey in @riverwarriordocumentary was truly unforgettable and inspiring. WE’RE STILL RIDING THE HIGH. ✨

What a night. On Wednesday, the 240-seat Carolina Theatre was full, River Warrior received a standing ovation, and then we woke up the next morning to find ourselves on the front page of the newspaper. 🥹🎬

We truly couldn’t have dreamed up a better world premiere.

To everyone who joined us for this incredibly special night: Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Your kind words, encouragement, and excitement have meant more to us than we can put into words. We are SO excited for what’s ahead!

And for those who weren’t able to join us, we haven’t forgotten you! River Warrior is still making its way through the festival circuit, so it isn’t publicly available just yet. We’ll be sharing future screenings and festival showings here and on our website as they’re announced.

Today is the day that River Warrior premieres to the world, but for me, that means so much more than just a showing on a big screen (even though that’s gonna be pretty damn cool too).

The process of making this was a true labor of love that tested me at every interval. When I signed on to help film Ann’s dream of kayaking to the Gulf, I was so not aware of the journey this film would take me on.

No one quite prepares you for what it costs to make a dream come true. Working towards your dreams sounds so glamorous, but I can assure you it isn’t. It’s hard work. It’s running on empty and putting in 6 hours more just for the love of it. It’s having your credit cards maxed out and your accounts in red, but you believe in something so much to the point where you’re willing to risk it all. It’s doing work that no one sees and then still being questioned what it is you even do. It’s nonstop, it’s lonely, it’s overwhelming, it’s a practice in patience. And also, no one quite prepares you for the joy you feel when someone connects with the story. When you help a crew member do work they love. When you get to chat with people and be in places you never would’ve imagined. That’s why you do it. The act of chasing dreams isn’t glamorous, but the aftermath and seeing the impact of the chased dreams, that’s where the magic happens. That’s the thing to chase.

This film and this INCREDIBLE group of creative collaborators is something I am immensely proud of, and if you had told the little girls on the last slide, that 10 years later they’d make a film together with such a baller team around them, they would’ve probably laughed/rolled their eyes, walked away, and started making pillow body jokes (iykyk) instead of responding. 🙈 River Warrior happened because of those two little girls who refused to give up, and kept pushing even when all the odds were against them and they felt like giving up. I’m mighty proud of them, and I’m mighty proud of the film they made together with the help of so many amazing individuals! Two years ago today, before the cameras had captured the full story, before the miles, before the storms, before the gators, before the finish line...Ann pushed off from the banks of her small Appalachian creek with a kayak and a vision.

What followed was 1,895 miles of winding rivers, countless conversations, unexpected challenges, and a journey that became SO much more than anyone could have imagined.

Looking back, it’s incredible to think this one launch would become River Warrior—a film about resilience, community, stewardship, and the ways our waterways connect us all.

Today, we’re celebrating not just where the journey is gonna take us, but where it began. Here’s to the courage it takes to push away from the shore and trust the current.

The rivers were beautiful. The wildlife was unforgettable. The journey itself was extraordinary.

But if you ask us the coolest part of River Warrior, it was the people.

Over nearly 2,000 miles, Ann met strangers who opened their homes, their farms, shared meals, offered encouragement, and reminded us that kindness still exists in ABUNDANCE.

Every river town had a story. Every stop introduced us to someone new. And time after time, we were met with generosity, curiosity, and genuine human connection.

This journey may have followed a river, but it was ultimately shaped by the people along the banks.
